⁵ David’s two wives^(A) had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel.

² So David went up there with his two wives,^(A) Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail,^(B) the widow of Nabal of Carmel.

⁴² Abigail^(A) quickly got on a donkey and, attended by her five female servants, went with David’s messengers and became his wife. ⁴³ David had also married Ahinoam^(B) of Jezreel, and they both were his wives.^(C)

³ David and his men settled in Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives:^(A) Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel, the widow of Nabal.
