⁴ Then David and the people who were with him raised their voices and wept until they had no more strength to weep.

³⁹ When Moses told these words to all the people of Israel, the people ^(A)mourned greatly.

14 Then all the congregation raised a loud cry, and the people ^(A)wept that night.

Joseph is without doubt torn to pieces.” ³⁴ Then Jacob tore his garments and put sackcloth on his loins and mourned for his son many days. ³⁵ All his sons and all his daughters ^(B)rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted and said, “No, ^(C)I shall go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” Thus his father wept for him.

The People Confess Their Sin

10 ^(A)While Ezra prayed and ^(B)made confession, weeping and ^(C)casting himself down ^(D)before the house of God, a very great assembly of men, women, and children, gathered to him out of Israel, for the people wept bitterly.

⁴ When the messengers came to ^(A)Gibeah of Saul, they reported the matter in the ears of the people, ^(B)and all the people wept aloud.

¹³ When he arrived, ^(A)Eli was sitting on his seat by the road watching, for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city and told the news, all the city cried out.

² And the people came to ^(A)Bethel and sat there till evening before God, and they lifted up their voices and wept bitterly.

⁴ As soon as the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the people of Israel, the people lifted up their voices and wept.
