¹⁴ We raided the Negev of the Kerethites,^(A) some territory belonging to Judah and the Negev of Caleb.^(B) And we burned^(C) Ziklag.”

¹⁶ therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines,^(A) and I will wipe out the Kerethites^(B) and destroy those remaining along the coast.^(C)

⁴⁴ The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites and the Pelethites, and they have put him on the king’s mule,

³⁸ So Zadok^(A) the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites^(B) and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon mount King David’s mule, and they escorted him to Gihon.^(C)

¹⁸ Benaiah^(A) son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites^(B) and Pelethites; and David’s sons were priests.^[a]

¹⁶ He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling^(A) because of the great amount of plunder^(B) they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah.

David Destroys the Amalekites

30 David and his men reached Ziklag^(A) on the third day. Now the Amalekites^(B) had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned^(C) it,
