¹⁵ Samuel lay there until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the Lord. Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli.

⁶ Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.”^{(A) 7} But the Lord said to me,

¹⁰ If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord just as I am;^{(A) 11} therefore let no one despise him. Send him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers and sisters.^(B)

¹⁰ Oh, that someone among you would shut the temple^[a] doors, so that you would not kindle fire on my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hands.^(A)

⁹ After they had eaten and drunk at Shiloh, Hannah rose and presented herself before the Lord.^[a] Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat beside the doorpost of the temple of the Lord.^(A)
