³ The commanders of the Philistines asked, “What about these Hebrews?”

Achish replied, “Is this not David,^(A) who was an officer of Saul king of Israel? He has already been with me for over a year,^(B) and from the day he left Saul until now, I have found no fault in him.”

⁵ Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”^(A)

⁷ David lived^(A) in Philistine territory a year and four months.

¹⁶ keeping a clear conscience,^(A) so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.^(B)

¹⁷ Do not repay anyone evil for evil.^(A) Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.^(B)

⁶ As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him.^(A) As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”^(B)

²⁸ “Please forgive^(A) your servant’s presumption. The Lord your God will certainly make a lasting^(B) dynasty for my lord, because you fight the Lord’s battles,^(C) and no wrongdoing^(D) will be found in you as long as you live.
