⁹ Whenever David ^[a]attacked the land, he left neither man nor woman alive, but took away the sheep, the oxen, the donkeys, the camels, and the apparel, and returned and came to Achish.

³ Now go and ^(A)attack^[a] Amalek, and ^(B)utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”

^7 (A)And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from ^(B)Havilah all the way to ^(C)Shur, which is east of Egypt.

²¹ And they ^(A)utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

Destroy the Amalekites

^17 (A)“Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you were coming out of Egypt, ¹⁸ how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he ^(B)did not fear God. ¹⁹ Therefore it shall be, ^(C)when the Lord your God has given you rest from your enemies all around, in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance, that you will ^(D)blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You shall not forget.

Bitter Waters Made Sweet

²² So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of ^(A)Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no ^(B)water.

^18 (A)(They dwelt from Havilah as far as Shur, which is east of Egypt as you go toward Assyria.) He ^[a]died ^(B)in the presence of all his brethren.

⁷ Now the ^(A)Angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, ^(B)by the spring on the way to ^(C)Shur.
