² So David arose and went over, he and ^(A)the six hundred men who were with him, ^(B)to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

¹³ And David said to his men, “Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And ^(A)about four hundred men went up after David, ^(B)while two hundred ^(C)remained with the baggage.

David Flees to Gath

¹⁰ And David rose and fled that day from Saul and went to ^(A)Achish the king of Gath.

³⁹ But it happened at the end of three years that two of Shimei's servants ran away to ^(A)Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. And when it was told Shimei, “Behold, your servants are in Gath,” ⁴⁰ Shimei arose and saddled a donkey and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants. Shimei went and brought his servants from Gath.

^8 (A)And David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue after this ^(B)band? Shall I overtake them?” He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake ^(C)and shall surely rescue.”
