⁴³ David also took Ahinoam ^(A)of Jezreel, ^(B)and so both of them were his wives.

⁵ And David’s two ^(A)wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive.

³ So David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each man with his household, and David ^(A)with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s widow.

Sons of David

² Sons were born ^(A)to David in Hebron: His firstborn was Amnon ^(B)by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;

⁸ He said to them, “Moses, because of the ^(A)hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your ^(B)wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

⁵ and said, ^(A)‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and ^(B)the two shall become one flesh’?

¹³ And ^(A)David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron. Also more sons and daughters were born to David. ¹⁴ Now ^(B)these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: ^[a]Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, ^(C)Solomon, ¹⁵ Ibhar, ^[b]Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia, ¹⁶ Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.

^24 (A)Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and ^(B)be^[a] joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
