⁴¹ She rose and bowed down, with her face to the ground, and said, “Your servant is a slave to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”^(A)

¹⁰ she must be well attested for her good works, as one who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the saints’ feet, helped the afflicted, and devoted herself to doing good in every way.^(A)

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands and that he had come from God and was going to God,^{(A) 4} got up from supper, took off his outer robe, and tied a towel around himself.^{(B) 5} Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him.

¹⁰ Then she fell prostrate, with her face to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your sight, that you should take notice of me, when I am a foreigner?”^(A)

⁴ Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.^(A)

¹³ Then she said, “May I continue to find favor in your sight, my lord, for you have comforted me and spoken kindly to your servant, even though I am not one of your servants.”
