³⁸ Then it happened, after about ten days, that the Lord ^(A)struck Nabal, and he died.

¹⁰ David said furthermore, “As the Lord lives, ^(A)the Lord shall strike him, or ^(B)his day shall come to die, or he shall ^(C)go out to battle and perish.

²³ Then immediately an angel of the Lord ^(A)struck him, because ^(B)he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and ^[a]died.

¹⁵ So the king did not listen to the people; ^(A)for the turn of events was from God, that the Lord might fulfill His ^(B)word, which He had spoken by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Sennacherib’s Defeat and Death^(A)

³⁵ And ^(B)it came to pass on a certain night that the ^[a]angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.

⁵ Then the Lord ^(A)struck the king, so that he was a leper until the day of his ^(B)death; so he ^(C)dwelt in an isolated house. And Jotham the king’s son was over the royal house, judging the people of the land.

⁷ Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his ^[a]error; and he died there by the ark of God.

³³ And blessed is your advice and blessed are you, because you have ^(A)kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand.

⁹ And watch: if it goes up the road to its own territory, to ^(A)Beth Shemesh, then He has done ^[a]us this great evil. But if not, then ^(B)we shall know that it is not His hand that struck us—it happened to us by chance.”
