³⁴ Otherwise, as surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, who has kept me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, not one male belonging to Nabal^(A) would have been left alive by daybreak.”

²⁶ And now, my lord, as surely as the Lord your God lives and as you live, since the Lord has kept you from bloodshed^(A) and from avenging^(B) yourself with your own hands, may your enemies and all who are intent on harming my lord be like Nabal.^(C)

¹⁸ Abigail acted quickly. She took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five dressed sheep, five seahs^[a] of roasted grain,^(A) a hundred cakes of raisins^(B) and two hundred cakes of pressed figs, and loaded them on donkeys.^(C)

¹¹ The next day Saul separated his men into three divisions;^(A) during the last watch of the night they broke into the camp of the Ammonites^(B) and slaughtered them until the heat of the day. Those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.

⁹ After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.

⁶ The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal:^(A) “Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us.”
