³⁰ When the Lord has fulfilled for my lord every good thing he promised concerning him and has appointed him ruler^(A) over Israel,

¹⁴ But now your kingdom^(A) will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart^(B) and appointed^(C) him ruler^(D) of his people, because you have not kept^(E) the Lord’s command.”

¹⁷ “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “My father Saul will not lay a hand on you. You will be king^(A) over Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this.”

²⁸ Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn^(A) the kingdom^(B) of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors—to one better than you.^(C)
