^5 (A)The fool will no more be called noble,
    nor the scoundrel said to be honorable.
⁶ For ^(B)the fool speaks folly,
    and his heart is busy with iniquity,
to practice ungodliness,
    to utter error concerning the Lord,
^(C)to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied,
    and to deprive the thirsty of drink.
⁷ As for the scoundrel—^(D)his devices are evil;
    he plans wicked schemes
to ruin the poor with lying words,
    even when the plea of the needy is right.

^{10 [a] (A)}An excellent wife who can find?
    She is far more precious than ^(B)jewels.

^30 (A)Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
³¹ Give her of the fruit of her hands,
    and let her works praise her in the gates.

³ For the wicked ^(A)boasts of the desires of his soul,
    and the one greedy for gain ^(B)curses^[a] and ^(C)renounces the Lord.

²⁶ She opens her mouth with wisdom,
    and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
