¹⁷ Now therefore, know and consider what you will do, for ^(A)harm is determined against our master and against all his household. For he is such a ^(B)scoundrel^[a] that one cannot speak to him.”

^7 (A)If he says thus: ‘It is well,’ your servant will be safe. But if he is very angry, be sure that ^(B)evil is determined by him.

^13 [a]‘Corrupt men have gone out from among you and enticed the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods” ’—which you have not known—

⁷ Then the king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden; but Haman stood before Queen Esther, pleading for his life, for he saw that evil was determined against him by the king.

¹⁶ So it was, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, “Have we made you the king’s counselor? Cease! Why should you be killed?”

Then the prophet ceased, and said, “I know that God has ^(A)determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”

⁷ Then ^(A)worthless rogues gathered to him, and strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was ^(B)young and inexperienced and could not withstand them.

¹³ And his ^(A)servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” ¹⁴ So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his ^(B)flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and ^(C)he was clean.

¹³ And two men, scoundrels, came in and sat before him; and the scoundrels ^(A)witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth has blasphemed God and the king!” ^(B)Then they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died.
