David Spares Saul’s Life

24 When Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told, “David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.”^(A)

²⁸ So Saul stopped pursuing David and went against the Philistines; therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape.^{[a] 29 [b]}David then went up from there and lived in the strongholds of En-gedi.^(A)

⁹ In you are those who slander to shed blood, those in you who eat upon the mountains, who commit lewdness in your midst.^(A)

¹⁹ Then some Ziphites went up to Saul at Gibeah and said, “David is hiding among us in the strongholds of Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon.^(A)
