^29 [a]David then went to live in the strongholds of En-gedi.

² Messengers came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army from Edom^[a] is marching against you from beyond the Dead Sea.^[b] They are already at Hazazon-tamar.” (This was another name for En-gedi.)

¹⁰ Fishermen will stand along the shores of the Dead Sea. All the way from En-gedi to En-eglaim, the shores will be covered with nets drying in the sun. Fish of every kind will fill the Dead Sea, just as they fill the Mediterranean.^[a]

David Spares Saul’s Life

24 ^[a]After Saul returned from fighting the Philistines, he was told that David had gone into the wilderness of En-gedi.

⁷ Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (now called Kadesh) and conquered all the territory of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites living in Hazazon-tamar.
