²⁰ Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, “May the Lord give you children by this woman ^(A)for the petition she asked of the Lord.” So then they would return to their home.

²⁷ For this child I prayed, ^(A)and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. ²⁸ Therefore I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.”

^(B)And he worshiped the Lord there.

³⁴ And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed ^(A)for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign ^(B)that is opposed

¹¹ And she ^(A)vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed ^(B)look on the affliction of your servant and ^(C)remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, ^(D)and no razor shall touch his head.”

¹¹ Then all the people who were ^(A)at the gate and the elders said, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman, who is coming into your house, like Rachel and Leah, ^(B)who together ^(C)built up the house of Israel. May you act worthily in ^(D)Ephrathah and ^(E)be renowned in Bethlehem,

^12 (A)The Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!”

²³ “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus ^(A)you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,

^27 (F)“So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”

²⁷ So he came near and kissed him. And Isaac smelled the smell of his garments ^(A)and blessed him and said,
