^18 (A)But Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child, ^(B)wearing a linen ephod.

Samuel’s First Prophecy

3 Now ^(A)the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And ^(B)the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.

¹¹ Then Elkanah went to his house at Ramah. But the child ^[a]ministered to the Lord before Eli the priest.

⁴ And these are the garments which they shall make: ^(A)a breastplate, ^(B)an ^[a]ephod, ^(C)a robe, ^(D)a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and ^(E)a sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest.

¹⁴ Then David ^(A)danced^[a] before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing ^(B)a linen ephod.

¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, “You turn and kill the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite turned and ^[a]struck the priests, and ^(A)killed on that day eighty-five men who wore a linen ephod.

²⁷ David was clothed with a robe of fine ^(A)linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music master with the singers. David also wore a linen ephod.

²⁸ Did I not ^(A)choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod before Me? And ^(B)did I not give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire?

⁷ And he ^(A)put the tunic on him, girded him with the sash, clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod on him; and he girded him with the intricately woven band of the ephod, and with it tied the ephod on him.
