⁵ For he took his ^(A)life in his hands and ^(B)killed the Philistine, and ^(C)the Lord brought about a great deliverance for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. ^(D)Why then will you ^(E)sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?”

¹⁴ But they ^[a]stationed themselves in the middle of that field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the Lord brought about a great victory.

¹³ But Saul said, ^(A)“Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today ^(B)the Lord has accomplished salvation in Israel.”

⁴ saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.”

And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!”

³² And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, ^(A)“Why should he be killed? What has he done?”

¹⁷ for my ^(A)father fought for you, risked his life, and ^(B)delivered you out of the hand of Midian;

²¹ And the woman came to Saul and saw that he was severely troubled, and said to him, “Look, your maidservant has obeyed your voice, and I have ^(A)put my life in my hands and heeded the words which you spoke to me.

³⁰ because for the work of Christ he came close to death, ^[a]not regarding his life, ^(A)to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.

^24 [a]But ^(A)none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, ^(B)so that I may finish my ^[b]race with joy, ^(C)and the ministry ^(D)which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
