⁵ For ^(A)he took his life in his hand ^(B)and he struck down the Philistine, ^(C)and the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against ^(D)innocent blood by killing David without cause?”

¹⁴ But he took his^[a] stand in the midst of the plot and defended it and killed the Philistines. And the Lord saved them by a great victory.

¹³ But Saul said, ^(A)“Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today ^(B)the Lord has worked ^(C)salvation in Israel.”

⁴ saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? ^(A)See to it yourself.”

³² Then Jonathan answered Saul his father, ^(A)“Why should he be put to death? What has he done?”

¹⁷ for my father fought for you and risked his life and delivered you from the hand of Midian,

²⁴ But ^(A)I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only ^(B)I may finish my course and ^(C)the ministry ^(D)that I received from the Lord Jesus, ^(E)to testify to ^(F)the gospel of ^(G)the grace of God.

²¹ And the woman came to Saul, and when she saw that he was terrified, she said to him, “Behold, your servant has obeyed you. ^(A)I have taken my life in my hand and have listened to what you have said to me.

³⁰ for he nearly died^{[a] (A)}for the work of Christ, risking his life ^(B)to complete what was lacking in your service to me.
