⁵ And David went out ^(A)and was successful wherever Saul sent him, so that Saul set him over the men of war. And this was good in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants.

^30 (A)Then the commanders of the Philistines came out to battle, and as often as they came out ^(B)David had more success than all the servants of Saul, so that his name was highly esteemed.

¹⁴ And David ^(A)had success in all his undertakings, ^(B)for the Lord was with him. ¹⁵ And when Saul saw that ^(C)he had great success, he stood in fearful awe of him.

^5 (A)Walk in wisdom toward ^(B)outsiders, making the best use of the time.

¹⁷ Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what ^(A)the will of the Lord is.

¹⁰ and rescued him out of all his afflictions and ^(A)gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, ^(B)who made him ruler over Egypt and over all his household.

Persecution Will Come

^16 (A)“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be ^(B)wise as serpents and ^(C)innocent as doves.
