²⁷ David arose and went, ^(A)along with his men, and killed two hundred of the Philistines. ^(B)And David brought their foreskins, which were given in full number to the king, that he might become the king's son-in-law. And Saul gave him his daughter Michal for a wife.

¹⁴ Then David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, saying, “Give me my wife Michal, ^(A)for whom I paid the bridal price of a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.”

¹³ So Saul removed him from his presence and made him a commander of a thousand. ^(A)And he went out and came in before the people.

^19 (A)And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and he went down to ^(B)Ashkelon and struck down thirty men of the town and took their spoil and gave the garments to those who had told the riddle. In hot anger he went back to his father's house.
