²⁰ And Jesse ^(A)took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine, and a young goat, and sent them by his son David to Saul.

^27 (A)But some ^(B)rebels said, “How can this man save us?” So they despised him, ^(C)and brought him no presents. But he ^[a]held his peace.

¹⁸ And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and ^(A)see how your brothers fare, and bring back news of them.”

Mephibosheth’s Servant

16 When^(A) David was a little past the top of the mountain, there was ^(B)Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth, who met him with a couple of saddled donkeys, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred clusters of raisins, one hundred summer fruits, and a skin of wine. ² And the king said to Ziba, “What do you mean to do with these?”

So Ziba said, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for ^(C)those who are faint in the wilderness to drink.”

¹⁸ Then Abigail made haste and ^(A)took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five sheep already dressed, five seahs of roasted grain, one hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and loaded them on donkeys.

¹¹ And their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Take some of the best fruits of the land in your vessels and ^(A)carry down a present for the man—a little ^(B)balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds.
