¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will remove you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, ^(A)because you have uttered rebellion against the Lord.’”

¹⁴ But now ^(A)your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought out a man ^(B)after his own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be prince^[a] over his people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

⁶ “If ^(A)a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, ^(B)I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.

²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, ^(A)divisions,

³² therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will punish ^(A)Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants. He shall not have anyone living among this people, ^(B)and he shall not see the good that I will do to my people, declares the Lord, ^(C)for he has spoken rebellion against the Lord.’”

¹⁰ There shall not be found among you anyone ^(A)who burns his son or his daughter as an offering,^[a] anyone who ^(B)practices divination or ^(C)tells fortunes or interprets omens, or ^(D)a sorcerer ¹¹ or a charmer or ^(E)a medium or a necromancer or ^(F)one who inquires of the dead,

¹⁶ What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For ^(A)we are the temple of the living God; as God said,

⁵ And ^(A)whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are ^(B)a rebellious house) ^(C)they will know that a prophet has been among them. ⁶ And you, son of man, ^(D)be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, ^(E)though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on ^(F)scorpions.^[a] Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. ⁷ And you shall speak my words to them, ^(G)whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house.

⁸ “But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. ^(H)Be not rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and ^(I)eat what I give you.”
