²² Likewise, when all the men of Israel ^(A)who had hidden themselves ^(B)in the hill country of Ephraim heard that the Philistines were fleeing, they too followed hard after them in the battle.

⁶ When the men of Israel saw that they were in trouble (for the people were hard pressed), the people hid themselves ^(A)in caves and in holes and in rocks and in tombs and in cisterns,

⁷ And when the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley and those beyond the Jordan saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled. And the Philistines came and lived in them.
