¹⁵ And there was a panic in the camp, in the field, and among all the people. The garrison and even ^(A)the raiders trembled, the earth quaked, and it became a very great panic.^[a]

¹⁷ And ^(A)raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies. One company turned toward Ophrah, to the land of Shual;

⁵ And as they journeyed, a terror from God fell upon the cities that were around them, so that they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

⁶ For the Lord had made the army of the Syrians ^(A)hear the sound of chariots and of horses, the sound of a great army, so that they said to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us ^(B)the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Egypt to come against us.” ^7 (C)So they fled away in the twilight and abandoned their tents, their horses, and their donkeys, leaving the camp as it was, and fled for their lives.

²⁴ And ^(A)when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then rouse yourself, ^(B)for then the Lord has gone out before you to strike down the army of the Philistines.”

¹⁸ Now ^(A)Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and ^(B)the whole mountain trembled greatly.

⁵⁰ And Jesus ^(A)cried out again with a loud voice and ^(B)yielded up his spirit.

⁵¹ And behold, ^(C)the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And ^(D)the earth shook, and the rocks were split.

⁶ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you ^(A)are not alarmed, for this ^(B)must take place, but the end is not yet.

^6 (A)Then the king's color changed, ^(B)and his thoughts alarmed him; ^(C)his limbs gave way, and ^(D)his knees knocked together.
