²² So it came about, on the day of battle, that ^(A)there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan. But they were found with Saul and Jonathan his son.

Cast Down but Unconquered

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, ^(A)that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

²⁷ But ^(A)God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; ²⁸ and the ^[a]base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, ²⁹ that no flesh should glory in His presence.

⁶ So he answered and said to me:

⁵⁰ So David prevailed over the Philistine with a ^(A)sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.

⁴⁷ Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord ^(A)does not save with sword and spear; for ^(B)the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”
