²² So on the day of the battle ^(A)there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people with Saul and Jonathan, but Saul and Jonathan his son had them.

Treasure in Jars of Clay

⁷ But we have this treasure in ^(A)jars of clay, ^(B)to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

²⁷ But ^(A)God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; ^(B)God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; ²⁸ God chose what is low and despised in the world, even ^(C)things that are not, to ^(D)bring to nothing things that are, ²⁹ so ^(E)that no human being^[a] might boast in the presence of God.

⁶ Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to ^(A)Zerubbabel: ^(B)Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

⁵⁰ So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David.

⁴⁷ and that all this assembly may know that ^(A)the Lord saves not with sword and spear. ^(B)For the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hand.”
