²⁷ But some ^(A)worthless fellows said, “How can this man save us?” And they despised him and brought him no present. But he held his peace.

¹³ that certain ^(A)worthless fellows have gone out among you and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which you have not known,

⁵ Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah ^(A)brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, ^(B)and he had great riches and honor.

²⁵ Every one of them brought his present, articles of silver and gold, garments, myrrh,^[a] spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.

Eli's Worthless Sons

¹² Now the sons of Eli were ^(A)worthless men. ^(B)They did not know the Lord.

³⁵ “This Moses, whom they rejected, ^(A)saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’—this man God sent as both ruler and redeemer ^(B)by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

^12 (A)But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer. ¹³ Then Pilate said to him, ^(B)“Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?” ¹⁴ But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.

²¹ But they were silent and answered him not a word, for the king's command was, “Do not answer him.”
