The Family of Elkanah

1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the ^(A)mountains of Ephraim, and his name was ^(B)Elkanah the son of Jeroham, the son of ^[a]Elihu, the son of ^[b]Tohu, the son of Zuph, ^(C)an Ephraimite.

²⁵ The sons of Elkanah were ^(A)Amasai and Ahimoth. ²⁶ As for Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah were ^[a]Zophai his son, ^[b]Nahath his son, ^27 [c]Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son.

³⁴ the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of ^[a]Eliel, the son of ^[b]Toah,

Samuel Is Born and Dedicated

¹⁹ Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah ^(A)knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord ^(B)remembered her.

² The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion—^(A)Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they went ^(B)to the country of Moab and remained there.

¹² Now David was ^(A)the son of that ^(B)Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse, and who had ^(C)eight sons. And the man was old, advanced in years, in the days of Saul.

⁵ When they had come to the land of ^(A)Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, “Come, let ^(B)us return, lest my father cease caring about the donkeys and become worried about us.”

The Levite’s Concubine

19 And it came to pass in those days, ^(A)when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite staying in the remote mountains of Ephraim. He took for himself a concubine from ^(B)Bethlehem in Judah.

17 Now there was a man from the mountains of Ephraim, whose name was ^(A)Micah.
