16 Entonces el Señor se dirigió a Jehú, hijo de Hananí, para decir en contra de Baasá: 2 «Yo te levanté del polvo y te puse como jefe de Israel, mi pueblo. Pero tú, al igual que Jeroboam, has hecho pecar a Israel, mi pueblo. Has provocado mi ira con tus pecados. 3 Por lo tanto, Baasá, voy a acabar contigo y con tu familia; voy a hacer con ella lo mismo que hice con la de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat. 4 Cualquier pariente tuyo que muera en la ciudad, será devorado por los perros; y al que muera en el campo, se lo comerán las aves de rapiña.»
5 El resto de la historia de Baasá, y de lo que hizo, y de sus hazañas, está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel. 6 Cuando murió Baasá, lo enterraron en Tirsá. Después reinó en su lugar su hijo Elá.
7 Por medio del profeta Jehú, hijo de Hananí, el Señor pronunció sentencia contra Baasá y su familia, porque sus hechos fueron malos a sus ojos. Baasá irritó al Señor, porque sus acciones fueron semejantes a las de Jeroboam y su familia, a quienes destruyó.
Reinados de Elá y de Zimrí en Israel
8 En el año veintiséis del reinado de Asá en Judá, Elá, hijo de Baasá, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Tirsá, y reinó durante dos años; 9 pero Zimrí, un oficial suyo al mando de la mitad de los carros de combate, formó un complot contra él. Un día en que Elá estaba en Tirsá, en casa de Arsá, su mayordomo, bebió hasta emborracharse. 10 De pronto llegó Zimrí y lo mató, para reinar en su lugar. Esto sucedió en el año veintisiete del reinado de Asá en Judá.
11 Tan pronto como Zimrí subió al trono y comenzó a reinar, mató a toda la familia de Baasá, sin dejar vivo a ningún varón, pariente o amigo, que pudiera vengarlo. 12 Así pues, Zimrí aniquiló a toda la familia de Baasá, conforme a la sentencia que el Señor había pronunciado contra Baasá por medio del profeta Jehú, 13 a causa de todos los pecados de Baasá y de su hijo Elá, con los cuales hicieron pecar también a los israelitas, irritando con su idolatría al Señor, Dios de Israel.
14 El resto de la historia de Elá y de todo lo que hizo, está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel.
15 En el año veintisiete del reinado de Asá en Judá, y estando el ejército israelita acampado para atacar la ciudad filistea de Guibetón, Zimrí comenzó a reinar en Tirsá. Pero sólo reinó siete días, 16 porque el mismo día en que el ejército que estaba en el campamento supo que Zimrí había conspirado contra el rey y lo había matado, todos en el campamento proclamaron rey de Israel a Omrí, general del ejército. 17 Entonces Omrí y todo el ejército israelita dejaron de atacar Guibetón y atacaron Tirsá.
18 Al ver Zimrí que la ciudad había sido tomada, se metió en el reducto del palacio real, prendió fuego al palacio estando él dentro, y así murió. 19 Esto sucedió por causa de los pecados que cometió y por sus malas acciones a los ojos del Señor, pues cometió los mismos pecados que Jeroboam, con los cuales hizo pecar también a los israelitas.
20 El resto de la historia de Zimrí y de su conspiración contra el rey Elá, está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel.
Reinado de Omrí en Israel
21 Entonces el pueblo de Israel se dividió en dos bandos. Unos estaban a favor de Tibní, hijo de Guinat, para que fuera el rey, y otros estaban a favor de Omrí. 22 Finalmente, el partido de Omrí se impuso al partido de Tibní, hijo de Guinat. Tibní murió, y así Omrí llegó a ser rey.
23 Omrí comenzó a reinar en Israel en el año treinta y uno del reinado de Asá en Judá, y reinó durante doce años, de los cuales reinó seis en Tirsá. 24 Le compró a Sémer el monte de Samaria por sesenta y seis kilos de plata, y allí construyó una ciudad fortificada a la que llamó Samaria, porque el dueño anterior del monte se llamaba Sémer.
25 Los hechos de Omrí fueron malos a los ojos del Señor, e incluso peores que los de los reyes anteriores a él, 26 pues cometió los mismos pecados que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, con los cuales hizo pecar también a los israelitas, provocando con su idolatría la ira del Señor, Dios de Israel.
27 El resto de la historia de Omrí y de todo lo que hizo, y de sus hazañas, está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel. 28 Cuando murió, lo enterraron en Samaria. Después reinó en su lugar su hijo Ahab.
Reinado de Ahab en Israel
29 En el año treinta y ocho del reinado de Asá en Judá, Ahab, hijo de Omrí, comenzó a reinar en Israel. Y reinó sobre Israel durante veintidós años, en la ciudad de Samaria. 30 Pero su conducta fue reprobable a los ojos del Señor, e incluso peor que la de los reyes anteriores a él, 31 pues no le importó cometer los mismos pecados de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat. Para colmo, se casó con Jezabel, hija de Et-baal, rey de Sidón, y acabó por adorar y rendir culto a Baal, 32 y construyó un altar y un templo a Baal en Samaria. 33 Hizo también una imagen de Aserá, con lo que irritó al Señor, Dios de Israel, más que todos los reyes de Israel anteriores a él.
34 En tiempos de Ahab, Hiel, el de Betel, reconstruyó la ciudad de Jericó. A costa de Abiram, su hijo mayor, echó los cimientos, y a costa de Segub, su hijo menor, puso las puertas, conforme a lo que el Señor había dicho por medio de Josué, hijo de Nun.

16 And the word of Jehovah came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying, 2 Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee [a]prince over my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins; 3 behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. 4 Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the field shall the birds of the heavens eat.
5 Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 6 And Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah; and Elah his son reigned in his stead. 7 And moreover by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of Jehovah against Baasha, and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he smote [b]him.
8 In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, and reigned two years. 9 And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah: 10 and Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead. 11 And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he smote all the house of Baasha: he left him not a single man-child, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends. 12 Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet, 13 for all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned, and wherewith they made Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities. 14 Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
15 In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah did Zimri reign seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines. 16 And the people that were encamped heard say, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also smitten the king: wherefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the host, king over Israel that day in the camp. 17 And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah. 18 And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the [c]castle of the king’s house, and burnt the king’s house over him with fire, and died, 19 for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin. 20 Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
21 Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri. 22 But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned. 23 In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, and reigned twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah. 24 And he bought the hill [d]Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver; and he [e]built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill, [f]Samaria. 25 And Omri did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and dealt wickedly above all that were before him. 26 For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities. 27 Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 28 So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his stead.
29 And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years. 30 And Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah above all that were before him. 31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife [g]Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. 32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. 33 And Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did yet more to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him. 34 In his days did Hiel the Beth-elite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof with the loss of Abiram his first-born, and set up the gates thereof with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.
