2 from the nations of whom the Lord had said to the children of Israel, (A)“You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. 3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart. 4 For it was so, when Solomon was old, (B)that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his (C)heart was not [a]loyal to the Lord his God, (D)as was the heart of his father David.

2 from the nations concerning which the Lord had said to the people of Israel, (A)“You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. 3 He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart. 4 For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and (B)his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, (C)as was the heart of David his father.
