Ancianidad de David

1 El rey David era ya viejo, entrado en días, y lo cubrían de ropas pero no entraba en calor. 2 Entonces sus siervos le dijeron: Que se busque para mi señor el rey una joven virgen para que atienda al[a] rey y sea quien lo cuide; que ella se acueste en tu seno y entrará en calor mi señor el rey. 3 Se buscó a una joven hermosa por toda la tierra de Israel, y hallaron a Abisag sunamita(A) y la trajeron al rey. 4 La joven era muy hermosa; ella cuidaba al rey y le servía, pero el rey no la conoció.

Rebelión de Adonías

5 Entretanto Adonías, hijo de Haguit(B), se ensalzaba diciendo: Yo seré rey. Y preparó para sí carros y hombres de a caballo y cincuenta hombres que corrieran[b] delante de él(C). 6 Su padre nunca lo había contrariado[c] preguntándole: ¿Por qué has hecho esto? Era también hombre de muy hermoso parecer, y había nacido[d] después de Absalón(D). 7 Y había consultado[e] con Joab, hijo de Sarvia(E), y con el sacerdote Abiatar(F), que respaldaban a Adonías(G). 8 Pero el sacerdote Sadoc(H), Benaía, hijo de Joiada(I), el profeta Natán(J), Simei(K), Rei y los valientes que tenía David(L), no estaban con Adonías. 9 Y Adonías sacrificó ovejas, bueyes y animales cebados junto a la piedra de Zohélet[f], que está al lado de En-rogel(M); e invitó a todos sus hermanos, los hijos del rey, y a todos los hombres de Judá, siervos del rey. 10 Pero no invitó al profeta Natán, ni a Benaía, ni a los valientes, ni a Salomón su hermano(N).

11 Entonces Natán habló a Betsabé, madre de Salomón(O), diciendo: ¿No has oído que Adonías, hijo de Haguit, se ha hecho rey y que David nuestro señor no lo sabe? 12 Ahora pues, ven, voy a darte un consejo(P) para que salves tu vida y la vida de tu hijo Salomón. 13 Ve ahora mismo[g] al rey David y dile: «¿No has jurado tú, oh rey mi señor, a tu sierva, diciendo: “Ciertamente tu hijo Salomón será rey después de mí y se sentará en mi trono(Q)”? ¿Por qué, pues, se ha hecho rey Adonías?». 14 He aquí, mientras estés aún hablando con el rey, yo entraré tras de ti y confirmaré tus palabras.

15 Y Betsabé vino a ver al rey en la alcoba. El rey era muy anciano(R), y Abisag sunamita le servía[h]. 16 Entonces Betsabé se inclinó y se postró ante el[i] rey. Y el rey dijo: ¿Qué deseas?[j] 17 Ella le respondió: Mi señor, tú juraste a tu sierva por el Señor tu Dios, diciendo: «Ciertamente tu hijo Salomón será rey después de mí y se sentará en mi trono(S)». 18 Y he aquí, ahora Adonías es rey; y tú, mi señor el rey, hasta ahora no lo sabes. 19 Él ha sacrificado bueyes, animales cebados y ovejas en abundancia, y ha invitado a todos los hijos del rey(T), al sacerdote Abiatar y a Joab, comandante del ejército, pero no ha invitado a Salomón tu siervo. 20 Y en cuanto a ti, mi señor el rey, los ojos de todo Israel están sobre ti, para que les hagas saber quién ha de sentarse en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él. 21 Pues sucederá que en cuanto mi señor el rey duerma con sus padres(U), yo y mi hijo Salomón seremos tenidos por culpables[k].

22 Y he aquí que mientras ella estaba aún hablando con el rey, entró el profeta Natán. 23 E informaron al rey, diciendo: Aquí está el profeta Natán. Cuando este entró a la presencia del rey, se postró ante el[l] rey rostro en tierra. 24 Entonces Natán dijo: Mi señor el rey, ¿has dicho tú: «Adonías será rey después de mí y se sentará en mi trono»? 25 Porque él ha descendido hoy y ha sacrificado bueyes, animales cebados y ovejas en abundancia, ha invitado a todos los hijos del rey, a los comandantes del ejército(V) y al sacerdote Abiatar, y he aquí, están comiendo y bebiendo en su presencia, y gritan[m]: «¡Viva el rey(W) Adonías!». 26 Pero ni a mí, tu siervo, ni al sacerdote Sadoc, ni a Benaía, hijo de Joiada, ni a tu siervo Salomón ha invitado(X). 27 ¿Ha sido hecho esto por mi señor el rey, y no has declarado a tus siervos[n] quién había de sentarse en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él?

Salomón escogido por David

28 Entonces el rey David respondió y dijo: Llamadme a Betsabé. Y ella entró a la presencia del rey, y se puso delante del rey. 29 Y el rey juró, diciendo: Vive el Señor, que ha redimido mi vida de toda angustia(Y), 30 que ciertamente como te juré por el Señor, Dios de Israel, diciendo: «Tu hijo Salomón será rey después de mí, y él se sentará sobre mi trono en mi lugar(Z)», así lo haré hoy mismo. 31 Betsabé se inclinó rostro en tierra, se postró ante el[o] rey y dijo: Viva para siempre mi señor el rey David(AA).

32 Entonces el rey David dijo: Llamadme al sacerdote Sadoc, al profeta Natán y a Benaía, hijo de Joiada(AB). Ellos entraron a la presencia del rey, 33 y el rey les dijo: Tomad con vosotros a los siervos de vuestro señor(AC), haced montar a mi hijo Salomón en mi propia mula y bajadle a Gihón(AD). 34 Que allí el sacerdote Sadoc y el profeta Natán lo unjan como rey sobre Israel(AE); y tocad trompeta y decid(AF): «¡Viva el rey(AG) Salomón!». 35 Después subiréis tras él, y él vendrá, se sentará en mi trono y reinará en mi lugar; porque lo he escogido para que sea príncipe sobre Israel y sobre Judá. 36 Y Benaía, hijo de Joiada, respondió al rey y dijo: ¡Amén! Así lo diga también el Señor, el Dios de mi señor el rey. 37 Como el Señor ha estado con mi señor el rey(AH), así esté con Salomón, y haga su trono más grande que el trono de mi señor el rey David(AI).

38 Entonces el sacerdote Sadoc, el profeta Natán, Benaía, hijo de Joiada(AJ), los cereteos y los peleteos(AK), descendieron e hicieron que Salomón montara en la mula del rey David, y lo llevaron a Gihón(AL). 39 El sacerdote Sadoc tomó el cuerno de aceite de la tienda(AM) y ungió a Salomón(AN). Entonces tocaron trompeta, y todo el pueblo gritó[p]: ¡Viva el rey(AO) Salomón(AP)! 40 Luego todo el pueblo subió tras él; y el pueblo tocaba flautas y se regocijaba con gran alegría, de modo que la tierra se estremecía[q] con su sonido.

41 Y lo oyó Adonías y todos los invitados que estaban con él cuando habían terminado de comer. Al oír Joab el sonido de la trompeta, dijo: ¿Por qué hace la ciudad tal alboroto[r]? 42 Estaba aún hablando, cuando he aquí, llegó Jonatán, hijo del sacerdote Abiatar(AQ). Y Adonías le dijo: Entra, pues tú eres hombre valiente y traerás buenas noticias(AR). 43 Pero Jonatán respondió y dijo a Adonías: Al contrario. Nuestro señor el rey David ha hecho rey a Salomón. 44 El rey también ha enviado con él al sacerdote Sadoc, al profeta Natán, a Benaía, hijo de Joiada, a los cereteos y a los peleteos, y ellos lo han montado en la mula del rey. 45 Y el sacerdote Sadoc y el profeta Natán lo han ungido rey en Gihón, y de allí han subido gozosos y se ha alborotado la ciudad(AS). Este es el ruido que habéis oído. 46 Además, Salomón ya se ha sentado en el trono del reino(AT), 47 y aun los siervos del rey han ido a bendecir a nuestro señor el rey David, diciendo: «Que tu Dios haga el nombre de Salomón más célebre[s] que tu nombre y su trono más grande que tu trono(AU)». Y el rey ha adorado en el lecho(AV). 48 El rey también ha dicho así: Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Israel, que ha concedido que se siente hoy en mi trono(AW) un descendiente mío[t] mientras mis ojos lo ven.

49 Entonces todos los invitados de Adonías se aterrorizaron, y se levantaron y cada uno se fue por su camino. 50 Adonías tuvo miedo de Salomón, y se levantó, se fue y se asió de los cuernos del altar(AX). 51 Y avisaron a Salomón, diciéndole: He aquí, Adonías tiene miedo del rey Salomón, y[u] se ha asido de los cuernos del altar, diciendo: «Que el rey Salomón me jure hoy que no matará a espada a su siervo». 52 Y Salomón dijo: Si es hombre digno, ni uno de sus cabellos caerá en tierra(AY); pero si se halla maldad en él, morirá. 53 Entonces el rey Salomón envió que lo hicieran descender del altar. Y él vino y se postró ante el[v] rey Salomón, y Salomón le dijo: Vete a tu casa.

Abisag sirve a David

1 Cuando el rey David era viejo y avanzado en días, le cubrían de ropas, pero no se calentaba. 2 Le dijeron, por tanto, sus siervos: Busquen para mi señor el rey una joven virgen, para que esté delante del rey y lo abrigue, y duerma a su lado, y entrará en calor mi señor el rey. 3 Y buscaron una joven hermosa por toda la tierra de Israel, y hallaron a Abisag sunamita, y la trajeron al rey. 4 Y la joven era hermosa; y ella abrigaba al rey, y le servía; pero el rey nunca la conoció.

Adonías usurpa el trono

5 Entonces Adonías(A) hijo de Haguit se rebeló, diciendo: Yo reinaré. Y se hizo de carros y de gente de a caballo, y de cincuenta hombres que corriesen delante de él. 6 Y su padre nunca le había entristecido en todos sus días con decirle: ¿Por qué haces así? Además, este era de muy hermoso parecer; y había nacido después de Absalón. 7 Y se había puesto de acuerdo con Joab hijo de Sarvia y con el sacerdote Abiatar, los cuales ayudaban a Adonías. 8 Pero el sacerdote Sadoc, y Benaía hijo de Joiada, el profeta Natán, Simei, Rei y todos los grandes de David, no seguían a Adonías.

9 Y matando Adonías ovejas y vacas y animales gordos junto a la peña de Zohelet, la cual está cerca de la fuente de Rogel, convidó a todos sus hermanos los hijos del rey, y a todos los varones de Judá, siervos del rey; 10 pero no convidó al profeta Natán, ni a Benaía, ni a los grandes, ni a Salomón su hermano.

11 Entonces habló Natán a Betsabé madre de Salomón,(B) diciendo: ¿No has oído que reina Adonías hijo de Haguit, sin saberlo David nuestro señor? 12 Ven pues, ahora, y toma mi consejo, para que conserves tu vida, y la de tu hijo Salomón. 13 Ve y entra al rey David, y dile: Rey señor mío, ¿no juraste a tu sierva, diciendo: Salomón tu hijo reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono? ¿Por qué, pues, reina Adonías? 14 Y estando tú aún hablando con el rey, yo entraré tras ti y reafirmaré tus razones.

15 Entonces Betsabé entró a la cámara del rey; y el rey era muy viejo, y Abisag sunamita le servía. 16 Y Betsabé se inclinó, e hizo reverencia al rey. Y el rey dijo: ¿Qué tienes? 17 Y ella le respondió: Señor mío, tú juraste a tu sierva por Jehová tu Dios, diciendo: Salomón tu hijo reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono. 18 Y he aquí ahora Adonías reina, y tú, mi señor rey, hasta ahora no lo sabes. 19 Ha matado bueyes, y animales gordos, y muchas ovejas, y ha convidado a todos los hijos del rey, al sacerdote Abiatar, y a Joab general del ejército; mas a Salomón tu siervo no ha convidado. 20 Entre tanto, rey señor mío, los ojos de todo Israel están puestos en ti, para que les declares quién se ha de sentar en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él. 21 De otra manera sucederá que cuando mi señor el rey duerma con sus padres, yo y mi hijo Salomón seremos tenidos por culpables.

22 Mientras aún hablaba ella con el rey, he aquí vino el profeta Natán. 23 Y dieron aviso al rey, diciendo: He aquí el profeta Natán; el cual, cuando entró al rey, se postró delante del rey inclinando su rostro a tierra. 24 Y dijo Natán: Rey señor mío, ¿has dicho tú: Adonías reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono? 25 Porque hoy ha descendido, y ha matado bueyes y animales gordos y muchas ovejas, y ha convidado a todos los hijos del rey, y a los capitanes del ejército, y también al sacerdote Abiatar; y he aquí, están comiendo y bebiendo delante de él, y han dicho: ¡Viva el rey Adonías! 26 Pero ni a mí tu siervo, ni al sacerdote Sadoc, ni a Benaía hijo de Joiada, ni a Salomón tu siervo, ha convidado. 27 ¿Es este negocio ordenado por mi señor el rey, sin haber declarado a tus siervos quién se había de sentar en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él?

David proclama rey a Salomón

28 Entonces el rey David respondió y dijo: Llamadme a Betsabé. Y ella entró a la presencia del rey, y se puso delante del rey. 29 Y el rey juró diciendo: Vive Jehová, que ha redimido mi alma de toda angustia, 30 que como yo te he jurado por Jehová Dios de Israel, diciendo: Tu hijo Salomón reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono en lugar mío; que así lo haré hoy. 31 Entonces Betsabé se inclinó ante el rey, con su rostro a tierra, y haciendo reverencia al rey, dijo: Viva mi señor el rey David para siempre.

32 Y el rey David dijo: Llamadme al sacerdote Sadoc, al profeta Natán, y a Benaía hijo de Joiada. Y ellos entraron a la presencia del rey. 33 Y el rey les dijo: Tomad con vosotros los siervos de vuestro señor, y montad a Salomón mi hijo en mi mula, y llevadlo a Gihón; 34 y allí lo ungirán el sacerdote Sadoc y el profeta Natán como rey sobre Israel, y tocaréis trompeta, diciendo: ¡Viva el rey Salomón! 35 Después iréis vosotros detrás de él, y vendrá y se sentará en mi trono, y él reinará por mí; porque a él he escogido para que sea príncipe sobre Israel y sobre Judá. 36 Entonces Benaía hijo de Joiada respondió al rey y dijo: Amén. Así lo diga Jehová, Dios de mi señor el rey. 37 De la manera que Jehová ha estado con mi señor el rey, así esté con Salomón, y haga mayor su trono que el trono de mi señor el rey David.

38 Y descendieron el sacerdote Sadoc, el profeta Natán, Benaía hijo de Joiada, y los cereteos y los peleteos, y montaron a Salomón en la mula del rey David, y lo llevaron a Gihón. 39 Y tomando el sacerdote Sadoc el cuerno del aceite del tabernáculo, ungió a Salomón; y tocaron trompeta, y dijo todo el pueblo: ¡Viva el rey Salomón! 40 Después subió todo el pueblo en pos de él, y cantaba la gente con flautas, y hacían grandes alegrías, que parecía que la tierra se hundía con el clamor de ellos.

41 Y lo oyó Adonías, y todos los convidados que con él estaban, cuando ya habían acabado de comer. Y oyendo Joab el sonido de la trompeta, dijo: ¿Por qué se alborota la ciudad con estruendo? 42 Mientras él aún hablaba, he aquí vino Jonatán hijo del sacerdote Abiatar, al cual dijo Adonías: Entra, porque tú eres hombre valiente, y traerás buenas nuevas. 43 Jonatán respondió y dijo a Adonías: Ciertamente nuestro señor el rey David ha hecho rey a Salomón; 44 y el rey ha enviado con él al sacerdote Sadoc y al profeta Natán, y a Benaía hijo de Joiada, y también a los cereteos y a los peleteos, los cuales le montaron en la mula del rey; 45 y el sacerdote Sadoc y el profeta Natán lo han ungido por rey en Gihón, y de allí han subido con alegrías, y la ciudad está llena de estruendo. Este es el alboroto que habéis oído. 46 También Salomón se ha sentado en el trono del reino, 47 y aun los siervos del rey han venido a bendecir a nuestro señor el rey David, diciendo: Dios haga bueno el nombre de Salomón más que tu nombre, y haga mayor su trono que el tuyo. Y el rey adoró en la cama. 48 Además el rey ha dicho así: Bendito sea Jehová Dios de Israel, que ha dado hoy quien se siente en mi trono, viéndolo mis ojos.

49 Ellos entonces se estremecieron, y se levantaron todos los convidados que estaban con Adonías, y se fue cada uno por su camino. 50 Mas Adonías, temiendo de la presencia de Salomón, se levantó y se fue, y se asió de los cuernos del altar. 51 Y se lo hicieron saber a Salomón, diciendo: He aquí que Adonías tiene miedo del rey Salomón, pues se ha asido de los cuernos del altar, diciendo: Júreme hoy el rey Salomón que no matará a espada a su siervo. 52 Y Salomón dijo: Si él fuere hombre de bien, ni uno de sus cabellos caerá en tierra; mas si se hallare mal en él, morirá. 53 Y envió el rey Salomón, y lo trajeron del altar; y él vino, y se inclinó ante el rey Salomón. Y Salomón le dijo: Vete a tu casa.

Adonijah Presumes to Be King

1 Now King David was (A)old, [a]advanced in years; and they put covers on him, but he could not get warm. 2 Therefore his servants said to him, “Let a young woman, a virgin, be sought for our lord the king, and let her [b]stand before the king, and let her care for him; and let her lie in your bosom, that our lord the king may be warm.” 3 So they sought for a lovely young woman throughout all the territory of Israel, and found (B)Abishag the (C)Shunammite, and brought her to the king. 4 The young woman was very lovely; and she cared for the king, and served him; but the king did not know her.

5 Then (D)Adonijah the [c]son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will [d]be king”; and (E)he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. 6 (And his father had not [e]rebuked him at any time by saying, “Why have you done so?” He was also very good-looking. (F)His mother had borne him after Absalom.) 7 Then he conferred with (G)Joab the son of Zeruiah and with (H)Abiathar the priest, and (I)they followed and helped Adonijah. 8 But (J)Zadok the priest, (K)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, (L)Nathan the prophet, (M)Shimei, Rei, and (N)the mighty men who belonged to David were not with Adonijah.

9 And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fattened cattle by the stone of [f]Zoheleth, which is by (O)En Rogel;[g] he also invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants. 10 But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or (P)Solomon his brother.

11 So Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of (Q)Haggith has become king, and David our lord does not know it? 12 Come, please, let me now give you advice, that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon. 13 Go immediately to King David and say to him, ‘Did you not, my lord, O king, swear to your maidservant, saying, (R)“Assuredly your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then has Adonijah become king?’ 14 Then, while you are still talking there with the king, I also will come in after you and confirm your words.”

15 So Bathsheba went into the chamber to the king. (Now the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.) 16 And Bathsheba bowed and did homage to the king. Then the king said, “What is your wish?”

17 Then she said to him, “My lord, (S)you swore by the Lord your God to your maidservant, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’ 18 So now, look! Adonijah has become king; and now, my lord the king, you do not know about it. 19 (T)He has sacrificed oxen and fattened cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the sons of the king, Abiathar the priest, and Joab the commander of the army; but Solomon your servant he has not invited. 20 And as for you, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. 21 Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king (U)rests with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted as offenders.”

22 And just then, while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in. 23 So they told the king, saying, “Here is Nathan the prophet.” And when he came in before the king, he bowed down before the king with his face to the ground. 24 And Nathan said, “My lord, O king, have you said, ‘Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne’? 25 (V)For he has gone down today, and has sacrificed oxen and fattened cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons, and the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and look! They are eating and drinking before him; and they say, (W)‘Long[h] live King Adonijah!’ 26 But he has not invited me—me your servant—nor Zadok the priest, nor Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, nor your servant Solomon. 27 Has this thing been done by my lord the king, and you have not told your servant who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”

David Proclaims Solomon King(X)

28 Then King David answered and said, “Call Bathsheba to me.” So she came into the king’s presence and stood before the king. 29 And the king took an oath and said, (Y)“As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from every distress, 30 (Z)just as I swore to you by the Lord God of Israel, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place,’ so I certainly will do this day.”

31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and paid homage to the king, and said, (AA)“Let my lord King David live forever!”

32 And King David said, “Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada.” So they came before the king. 33 The king also said to them, (AB)“Take with you the servants of your lord, and have Solomon my son ride on my own (AC)mule, and take him down to (AD)Gihon.[i] 34 There let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet (AE)anoint him king over Israel; and (AF)blow the horn, and say, [j]‘Long live King Solomon!’ 35 Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne, and he shall be king in my place. For I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah.”

36 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, (AG)“Amen! May the Lord God of my lord the king say so too. 37 (AH)As the Lord has been with my lord the king, even so may He be with Solomon, and (AI)make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”

38 So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, (AJ)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the (AK)Cherethites, and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and took him to Gihon. 39 Then Zadok the priest took a horn of (AL)oil from the tabernacle and (AM)anointed Solomon. And they blew the horn, (AN)and all the people said, [k]“Long live King Solomon!” 40 And all the people went up after him; and the people played the flutes and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth seemed to split with their sound.

41 Now Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they finished eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the horn, he said, “Why is the city in such a noisy uproar?” 42 While he was still speaking, there came (AO)Jonathan, the son of Abiathar the priest. And Adonijah said to him, “Come in, for (AP)you are a prominent man, and bring good news.”

43 Then Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, “No! Our lord King David has made Solomon king. 44 The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites; and they have made him ride on the king’s mule. 45 So Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon; and they have gone up from there rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar. This is the noise that you have heard. 46 Also Solomon (AQ)sits on the throne of the kingdom. 47 And moreover the king’s servants have gone to bless our lord King David, saying, (AR)‘May God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and may He make his throne greater than your throne.’ (AS)Then the king bowed himself on the bed. 48 Also the king said thus, ‘Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who has (AT)given one to sit on my throne this day, while my eyes see (AU)it!’ ”

49 So all the guests who were with Adonijah were afraid, and arose, and each one went his way.

50 Now Adonijah was afraid of Solomon; so he arose, and went and (AV)took hold of the horns of the altar. 51 And it was told Solomon, saying, “Indeed Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon; for look, he has taken hold of the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon swear to me today that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.’ ”

52 Then Solomon said, “If he proves himself a worthy man, (AW)not one hair of him shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.” 53 So King Solomon sent them to bring him down from the altar. And he came and fell down before King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, “Go to your house.”
