²³E hicieron saber al rey, diciendo: He aquí está Natán, el profeta; el cual cuando entró al rey, se postró delante del rey inclinando su rostro a tierra.

²⁴Y dijo Natán: Rey señor mío, ¿has dicho tú: Adonías reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono?

²⁵Porque hoy ha descendido, y ha sacrificado bueyes, y animales engordados, y muchas ovejas, y ha convidado a todos los hijos del rey, y a los capitanes del ejército, y también a Abiatar, el sacerdote; y he aquí, están comiendo y bebiendo delante de él, y han dicho: ¡Viva el rey Adonías!

²³And the king was told, “Nathan the prophet is here.” So he went before the king and bowed with his face to the ground.

²⁴Nathan said, “Have you, my lord the king, declared that Adonijah shall be king after you, and that he will sit on your throne? ²⁵Today he has gone down and sacrificed great numbers of cattle, fattened calves, and sheep. He has invited all the king’s sons, the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest. Right now they are eating and drinking with him and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’

²³They informed the king, saying, “Nathan the prophet is here.” And when he came into the king’s presence, he prostrated himself ^[a]before the king with his face to the ground. ²⁴Then Nathan said, “My lord the king, have you yourself said, ‘Adonijah shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne’? ²⁵^(A)For he has gone down today and has sacrificed oxen and fattened steers and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons, the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest, and behold, they are eating and drinking in his presence; and they say, ‘^(B)Long live King Adonijah!’
