1 El rey David ya estaba muy viejo, y aunque lo cubrían con varios mantos, no lograba calentarse. 2 Después de hablar con él, sus siervos buscaron a una jovencita que lo cuidara, lo atendiera y durmiera a su lado para darle calor. 3 Buscaron por todo Israel a una joven hermosa y encontraron a Abisag la sunamita, a quien pusieron al servicio del rey.

1 Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.
2 Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.
3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

1 Now King David was (A)old, [a]advanced in years; and they put covers on him, but he could not get warm. 2 Therefore his servants said to him, “Let a young woman, a virgin, be sought for our lord the king, and let her [b]stand before the king, and let her care for him; and let her lie in your bosom, that our lord the king may be warm.” 3 So they sought for a lovely young woman throughout all the territory of Israel, and found (B)Abishag the (C)Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
