7 (A) På samma sätt ska ni män leva förståndigt med era hustrur, som är det svagare kärlet[a]. Visa dem aktning som medarvingar till livets nåd så att inget står i vägen för era böner.

8 (B) Till sist ska ni alla visa enighet, medkänsla, syskonkärlek, barmhärtighet och ödmjukhet. 9 (C) Löna inte ont med ont eller hån med hån. Tvärtom ska ni välsigna, för ni är kallade att ärva välsignelse.

7 Husbands,(A) in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Suffering for Doing Good
8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded,(B) be sympathetic, love one another,(C) be compassionate and humble.(D) 9 Do not repay evil with evil(E) or insult with insult.(F) On the contrary, repay evil with blessing,(G) because to this(H) you were called(I) so that you may inherit a blessing.(J)

9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
