1 Peter 5
New King James Version
Shepherd the Flock
5 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a (A)witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the (B)glory that will be revealed: 2 (C)Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, (D)not by compulsion but [a]willingly, (E)not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as (F)being [b]lords over (G)those entrusted to you, but (H)being examples to the flock; 4 and when (I)the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive (J)the crown of glory that does not fade away.
Submit to God, Resist the Devil
5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, (K)all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
8 Be [c]sober, be [d]vigilant; [e]because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But [f]may the God of all grace, (N)who called [g]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, [h]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 (O)To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Farewell and Peace
12 By (P)Silvanus, our faithful brother as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying (Q)that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.
13 She who is in Babylon, elect together with you, greets you; and so does (R)Mark my son. 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love.
Peace to you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

English Standard Version
Shepherd the Flock of God
5 So I exhort the elders among you, (A)as a fellow elder and (B)a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 (C)shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[a] (D)not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[b] (E)not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not (F)domineering over those in your charge, but (G)being examples to the flock. 4 And when (H)the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the (I)unfading (J)crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. (K)Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for (L)“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
6 (M)Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 (N)casting all your anxieties on him, because (O)he cares for you. 8 (P)Be sober-minded; (Q)be watchful. Your (R)adversary the devil (S)prowls around (T)like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 (U)Resist him, (V)firm in your faith, knowing that (W)the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And (X)after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, (Y)who has called you to his (Z)eternal glory in Christ, will himself (AA)restore, (AB)confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 (AC)To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Final Greetings
12 By (AD)Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, (AE)I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is (AF)the true grace of God. (AG)Stand firm in it. 13 She who is at Babylon, who is likewise chosen, sends you greetings, and so does (AH)Mark, my son. 14 (AI)Greet one another with the kiss of love.
(AJ)Peace to all of you who are in Christ.

Disciples’ Literal New Testament
So Elders, Lead By Example
5 Therefore[a] I exhort the elders among you, I the fellow-elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, the sharer[b] also of the glory going-to be revealed: 2 Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising-oversight— not by-compulsion[c], but willingly[d], according to God; nor greedily, but eagerly; 3 nor as lording-over[e] your lots[f], but being patterns for the flock. 4 And the Chief-shepherd having appeared, you will receive the unfading crown of [g] glory.
Young Men, Follow
5 Likewise, younger men— be subject to the[h] elders.
Everyone, Be Humble And Keep Watch For The Adversary
And everyone— clothe-yourselves-with humblemindedness toward one another. Because “God opposes the proud, but He gives grace to the humble” [Prov 3:34]. 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God in order that He may exalt you at the proper-time, 7 having cast all your anxiety[i] upon Him, because He is concerned[j] about you. 8 Be sober, keep-watch. Your adversary the devil is walking-around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour— 9 whom resist, firm in the[k] faith, knowing that the same kinds of sufferings are being accomplished[l] by your brotherhood in the world.
And The God of All Grace Will Establish You After Your Sufferings
10 And the God of all grace, the One having called you into His eternal glory in Christ Jesus— you having suffered a little— will Himself restore, support, strengthen, establish you. 11 To Him be the dominion forever, amen.
12 I wrote to you through Silvanus, the faithful brother, as I count him, with a few words exhorting and bearing-witness that this[m] is the true grace of God— in which, stand [firm]. 13 She in Babylon[n] chosen-with you greets you. Also Mark, my son. 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you, to all the ones in Christ.
