5 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

5 U bëj thirrje pleqve që janë midis jush, unë që jam plak bashkë me ta dhe dëshmitar i vuajtjeve të Krishtit dhe që jam gjithashtu pjesëmarrës i lavdisë që ka për t’u zbuluar:
2 ruani tufën e Perëndisë që është midis jush, duke e mbikqyrur jo me detyrim, por me dëshirë, jo për përfitim të pandershëm, po me vullnet të mirë,
3 dhe jo si zotëronjës mbi ata që ju janë besuar, por duke u bërë shembull për tufën.
4 Dhe kur të shfaqet kryebariu, do të merrni kurorën e lavdisë që nuk fishket.
5 Gjithashtu ju, të rinjtë, nënshtrojuni pleqëve. Po, nënshtrojuni të gjithënjeri tjetrit dhe vishuni me përulje, sepse Perëndia i kundërshton krenarët, por u jep hir të përulurve.
6 Përuluni, pra, nën dorën e fuqishme të Perëndisë, që ai t’ju lartësojë ne kohën e duhur,
7 dhe gjithë merakun tuaj hidheni mbi të, sepse ai merakoset për ju.
8 Jini të përmbajtur, rrini zgjuar; sepse kundërshtari juaj, djalli, sillet rreth e qark si një luan vrumbullues, duke kërkuar cilin mund të përpijë.

Shepherd the Flock of God
5 So I exhort the elders among you, (A)as a fellow elder and (B)a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 (C)shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[a] (D)not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[b] (E)not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not (F)domineering over those in your charge, but (G)being examples to the flock. 4 And when (H)the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the (I)unfading (J)crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. (K)Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for (L)“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
6 (M)Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 (N)casting all your anxieties on him, because (O)he cares for you. 8 (P)Be sober-minded; (Q)be watchful. Your (R)adversary the devil (S)prowls around (T)like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 (U)Resist him, (V)firm in your faith, knowing that (W)the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And (X)after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, (Y)who has called you to his (Z)eternal glory in Christ, will himself (AA)restore, (AB)confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 (AC)To him be the dominion forever and ever.
