1 Peter 5:2-10
English Standard Version
2 (A)shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[a] (B)not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[b] (C)not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not (D)domineering over those in your charge, but (E)being examples to the flock. 4 And when (F)the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the (G)unfading (H)crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. (I)Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for (J)“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
6 (K)Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 (L)casting all your anxieties on him, because (M)he cares for you. 8 (N)Be sober-minded; (O)be watchful. Your (P)adversary the devil (Q)prowls around (R)like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 (S)Resist him, (T)firm in your faith, knowing that (U)the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And (V)after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, (W)who has called you to his (X)eternal glory in Christ, will himself (Y)restore, (Z)confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
