Good Stewards of God’s Grace
4 Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh,[a] arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin), 2 so as to live for the rest of your earthly life[b] no longer by human desires but by the will of God. 3 You have already spent enough time in doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in licentiousness, passions, drunkenness, revels, carousing, and lawless idolatry. 4 They are surprised that you no longer join them in the same excesses of dissipation, and so they blaspheme.[c] 5 But they will have to give an accounting to him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this is the reason the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that, though they had been judged in the flesh as everyone is judged, they might live in the spirit as God does.
7 The end of all things is near;[d] therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining. 10 Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. 11 Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
Suffering as a Christian
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, so that you may also be glad and shout for joy when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory,[e] which is the Spirit of God, is resting on you.[f] 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, a criminal, or even as a mischief maker. 16 Yet if any of you suffers as a Christian, do not consider it a disgrace, but glorify God because you bear this name. 17 For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; if it begins with us, what will be the end for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinners?”
19 Therefore, let those suffering in accordance with God’s will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator, while continuing to do good.

4 基督既然在肉身受過苦，你們也應當以同樣的心志裝備自己（因為在肉身受過苦的，就已經與罪斷絕了）， 2 好叫你們不再隨從人的私慾，只順從 神的旨意，在世上度餘下的光陰。 3 因為你們過去隨從教外人的心意，行邪淫、私慾、醉酒、荒宴、狂飲和可憎拜偶像的事，時候已經夠了。 4 他們見你們不再與他們同奔那縱情放蕩的路，就覺得奇怪，毀謗你們。 5 他們必要向那位預備要審判活人死人的主交帳。 6 因此，那些死人也曾有福音傳給他們，好使他們的肉體受了人要受的審判，他們的靈卻靠 神活著。
按照恩賜彼此服事
7 萬物的結局近了，所以你們要謹慎警醒地禱告。 8 最重要的是要彼此切實相愛，因為愛能遮蓋許多的罪。 9 你們要互相接待，不發怨言。 10 你們要作 神各樣恩賜的好管家，各人照著所領受的恩賜彼此服事。 11 講道的，應當按著 神的聖言講；服事的，應當按著 神所賜的力量服事，為要在一切事上，使 神藉耶穌基督得榮耀。榮耀、權能都是他的，直到永永遠遠。阿們。
為基督受苦的有福了
12 親愛的，有火煉的試驗臨到你們，不要以為奇怪，好像是遭遇非常的事， 13 倒要歡喜，因為你們既然在基督的受苦上有分，就在他榮耀顯現的時候，可以歡喜快樂。 14 你們要是為基督的名受辱罵，就有福了！因為 神榮耀的靈，住在你們身上。 15 你們中間不可有人因為殺人、或偷竊、或行惡、或好管閒事而受苦。 16 如果因為作基督徒而受苦，不要以為羞恥，倒要藉著這名字榮耀 神。 17 因為審判從 神的家開始，就在這時候了。如果先從我們起頭，那不信從 神福音的人，結局將要怎樣呢？
18 “如果義人僅僅得救，
不敬虔和犯罪的人，又會變成怎樣呢（“不敬虔和犯罪的人，又會變成怎樣呢？”直譯作“不敬虔的人和犯罪的人將出現在何處呢？”）？”
19 所以那順著 神的旨意而受苦的人，要繼續地行善，把自己的生命交託那信實的創造者。

4 Kung paanong si Cristo ay nagdusa sa laman ay sandatahan din naman ninyo ang inyong sarili ng gayong pag-iisip, sapagkat ang nagdusa sa laman ay tapos na sa kasalanan,
2 upang hindi na kayo mamuhay sa laman sa inyong nalalabing panahon sa masasamang pagnanasa ng mga tao, kundi sa kalooban ng Diyos.
3 Sapat na ang nakaraang panahon sa paggawa ninyo ng mga gustong gawin ng mga Hentil, na namumuhay sa kahalayan, masasamang pita, paglalasing, kalayawan, pag-iinuman, at sa kasuklamsuklam na pagsamba sa mga diyus-diyosan.
4 Sila ay nagtataka na kayo ay hindi na nakikisama sa gayong labis na kaguluhan, kaya't kayo'y nilalait nila.
5 Ngunit sila'y magbibigay-sulit sa kanya na handang humatol sa mga buháy at sa mga patay.
6 Sapagkat ito ang dahilan kung bakit ang ebanghelyo ay ipinangaral maging sa mga patay, upang bagaman sila'y nahatulan sa laman na gaya ng mga tao, ay mabubuhay sila sa espiritu tulad ng Diyos.

7 Ngunit ang wakas ng lahat ng mga bagay ay malapit na,[a] kaya kayo'y magpakatino at magpigil sa sarili alang-alang sa inyong mga panalangin.
8 Higit(A) sa lahat, magkaroon kayo ng maningas na pag-ibig sa isa't isa, sapagkat ang pag-ibig ay nagtatakip ng maraming kasalanan.
9 Maging mapagpatulóy kayo sa isa't isa nang walang bulung-bulungan.
10 Kung paanong ang bawat isa ay tumanggap ng kaloob, ipaglingkod ito sa isa't isa bilang mabubuting katiwala ng masaganang biyaya ng Diyos.
11 Sinumang nagsasalita ay gawin iyon nang tulad sa nagsasalita ng mga aral ng Diyos; sinumang naglilingkod ay tulad sa naglilingkod mula sa kalakasang ibinibigay ng Diyos, upang ang Diyos ay maluwalhati sa lahat ng mga bagay sa pamamagitan ni Jesu-Cristo. Sa kanya ang kaluwalhatian at ang kapangyarihan magpakailanman. Amen.
Pagdurusa Bilang Cristiano
12 Mga minamahal, huwag kayong magtaka tungkol sa mahigpit na pagsubok na dumarating sa inyo upang kayo'y subukin, na waring may isang kataka-takang bagay na nangyayari sa inyo.
13 Kundi kayo'y magalak, yamang kayo'y nakikibahagi sa mga pagdurusa ni Cristo, upang kayo man ay matuwa at sumigaw sa galak kapag ang kaluwalhatian niya ay nahayag.
14 Kung kayo'y inaalipusta dahil sa pangalan ni Cristo ay mapapalad kayo; sapagkat ang espiritu ng kaluwalhatian at ang Espiritu ng Diyos ay naninirahan sa inyo.
15 Ngunit huwag magdusa ang sinuman sa inyo bilang isang mamamatay-tao, o magnanakaw, o gumagawa ng masama, o bilang isang mapanghimasok.
16 Ngunit kung ang isang tao ay nagdurusa bilang Cristiano, huwag niyang ikahiya ito, kundi luwalhatiin niya ang Diyos sa pangalang ito.
17 Sapagkat ito'y panahon upang simulan ang paghuhukom sa sambahayan ng Diyos; at kung magsimula sa atin, ano kaya ang wakas ng mga hindi sumusunod sa ebanghelyo ng Diyos?
18 At(B) kung ang matuwid ay bahagya nang makaligtas, ano kaya ang mangyayari sa masasama at makasalanan?
19 Kaya't ang mga nagdurusa ayon sa kalooban ng Diyos ay ipagkatiwala ang kanilang mga kaluluwa sa tapat na lumikha sa paggawa ng mabuti.

Living for God
4 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body,(A) arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.(B) 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires,(C) but rather for the will of God. 3 For you have spent enough time in the past(D) doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.(E) 4 They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.(F) 5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.(G) 6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead,(H) so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
7 The end of all things is near.(I) Therefore be alert and of sober mind(J) so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply,(K) because love covers over a multitude of sins.(L) 9 Offer hospitality(M) to one another without grumbling.(N) 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,(O) as faithful(P) stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.(Q) If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides,(R) so that in all things God may be praised(S) through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.(T)
Suffering for Being a Christian
12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you(U) to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice(V) inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ,(W) so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.(X) 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ,(Y) you are blessed,(Z) for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.(AA) 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household;(AB) and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?(AC) 18 And,
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”[a](AD)
19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will(AE) should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
