⁴Rather, true beauty is the secret beauty of the heart, of a sincere, gentle and quiet spirit. That is very precious to God. ⁵That is how the holy women of old, who hoped in God, used to make themselves beautiful in submission to their husbands. ⁶Take Sarah, for instance, who obeyed Abraham and called him “Master.” You are her children if you do good and have no fear of intimidation.

⁴but let your adorning be ^(A)the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. ⁵For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, ⁶as Sarah obeyed Abraham, ^(B)calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and ^(C)do not fear anything that is frightening.
