^2 (A)and like newborn babies, long for the ^[a](B)pure ^[b]milk of the word, so that by it you may ^(C)grow ^[c]in respect to salvation,

¹¹ Concerning ^[a]him we have much to say, and it is difficult to explain, since you have become ^[b]poor listeners. ¹² For though ^[c]by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you ^(A)the ^[d](B)elementary principles of the ^(C)actual words of God, and you have come to need ^(D)milk and not solid food. ¹³ For everyone who partakes only of milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is an ^(E)infant. ¹⁴ But solid food is for ^(F)the mature, who because of practice have their senses ^(G)trained to ^(H)distinguish between good and evil.

Foundations for Living

3 And I, brothers and sisters, could not speak to you as ^(A)spiritual people, but only as ^(B)fleshly, as to ^(C)infants in Christ. ² I gave you ^(D)milk to drink, not solid food; for you ^(E)were not yet able to consume it. But even now you are not yet able, ³ for you are still fleshly. For since there is ^(F)jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking ^(G)like ordinary people?
