² who have been chosen and destined by God the Father and sanctified by the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ and to be sprinkled with his blood:

⁵ For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit^[a] set their minds on the things of the Spirit.^{[b](A) 6} To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit^[c] is life and peace.^(B)
