²⁰ He was destined before the foundation of the world but was revealed at the end of the ages for your sake.^(A)

⁹ who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace, and this grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,^{[a](A) 10} but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ,^[b] who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.^(B)

⁴ just as he chose us in Christ^[a] before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.^(A)

²⁶ for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to remove sin by the sacrifice of himself.^(A)

⁸ and all the inhabitants of the earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slaughtered.^[a](A)

² but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son,^[a] whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also created the worlds.^(A)

² in the hope of eternal life that God, who never lies, promised before the ages began^(A)— ³ in due time he revealed his word through the proclamation with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior,^(B)

²⁶ the mystery that has been hidden throughout the ages and generations but has now been revealed to his saints.^(A)

¹¹ This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,
