² according to the foreknowledge^(A) of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit,^(B) to be obedient^(C) and to be sprinkled with the blood^(D) of Jesus Christ.

May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

A Living Hope

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.^(E) Because of his great mercy^(F) he has given us new birth^(G) into a living hope^(H) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead^{(I) 4} and into an inheritance that is imperishable,^(J) undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven^(K) for you.
