^23 (A)since you have been born again, ^(B)not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through ^(C)the living and abiding word of God;

Born Again to a Living Hope

^3 (A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! ^(B)According to his great mercy, ^(C)he has caused us to be born again to a living hope ^(D)through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

¹² For ^(A)the word of God is living and ^(B)active, ^(C)sharper than any ^(D)two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and ^(E)discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

³ Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is ^(A)born ^(B)again^[a] he cannot ^(C)see the kingdom of God.”

¹³ who ^(A)were born, ^(B)not of blood ^(C)nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

⁵³ For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and ^(A)this mortal body must put on immortality. ⁵⁴ When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

^63 (A)It is the Spirit who gives life; ^(B)the flesh is no help at all. ^(C)The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

¹⁸ We know that ^(A)everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but ^(B)he who was born of God ^(C)protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.

^9 (A)No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's^[a] seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.
