O rebanho de Deus
5 Agora, dirijo-me aos presbíteros que estão entre vocês. Falo não só como presbítero que sou, assim como vocês, mas também como testemunha dos sofrimentos de Cristo e como participante da glória que vai ser revelada. Eu lhes peço isto: 2 Pastoreiem o rebanho[a] de Deus que há entre vocês, e tomem conta dele com muito cuidado. Porém, não façam isso como que por obrigação, mas sim espontaneamente, como Deus quer. Não pastoreiem, tampouco, por ambição ao dinheiro, mas sim de boa vontade. 3 Não procurem dominar sobre aqueles que foram confiados a vocês, mas, pelo contrário, tornem-se exemplos para o rebanho. 4 Assim, quando o Supremo Pastor voltar, vocês receberão a coroa que é gloriosa e que jamais perderá a sua beleza.
5 Peço também aos mais jovens que sejam submissos aos presbíteros e que todos tratem uns aos outros com humildade pois, como dizem as Escrituras:
“Deus se opõe aos orgulhosos,
mas concede a sua graça aos humildes”.(A)
6 Portanto, humilhem-se sob a poderosa mão de Deus, para que ele os exalte no momento certo. 7 Lancem sobre ele toda a sua ansiedade, pois ele cuida de vocês.
8 Tenham domínio próprio e estejam sempre alertas! O diabo, o adversário de vocês, anda ao redor como um leão que ruge, procurando alguém para devorar. 9 Resistam-lhe e estejam firmes na fé, pois vocês sabem que no mundo inteiro seus irmãos estão passando pelos mesmos sofrimentos.
10 É verdade que vocês irão sofrer um pouco. Mas depois disso Deus fará com que tudo se ajeite. Ele os fortalecerá. Ele vai ajudá-los e fará com que permaneçam firmes. Ele é a fonte de todas as bênçãos e os chamou para que vocês participem de sua eterna glória em Cristo. 11 A ele seja o poder para sempre. Amém.

12 Eu lhes escrevi esta pequena carta com a ajuda de Silas[b], que é para mim um irmão fiel. Eu escrevi para encorajá-los e para testificar que esta é a genuína graça de Deus. Permaneçam firmes nela.
13 A igreja que está em Babilônia[c] e que também foi escolhida por Deus, assim como vocês, manda lembranças. Marcos, meu filho, também manda lembranças. 14 Cumprimentem-se com um beijo de amor cristão.

To the Elders and the Flock
5 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder(A) and a witness(B) of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed:(C) 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock(D) that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;(E) not pursuing dishonest gain,(F) but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over(G) those entrusted to you, but being examples(H) to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd(I) appears, you will receive the crown of glory(J) that will never fade away.(K)
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves(L) to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility(M) toward one another, because,
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.(O) 7 Cast all your anxiety on him(P) because he cares for you.(Q)
8 Be alert and of sober mind.(R) Your enemy the devil prowls around(S) like a roaring lion(T) looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him,(U) standing firm in the faith,(V) because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.(W)
10 And the God of all grace, who called you(X) to his eternal glory(Y) in Christ, after you have suffered a little while,(Z) will himself restore you and make you strong,(AA) firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.(AB)
Final Greetings
12 With the help of Silas,[b](AC) whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly,(AD) encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.(AE)
13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you her greetings, and so does my son Mark.(AF) 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love.(AG)

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

5 Sa mga namumuno sa iglesya, may nais akong ipakiusap sa inyo bilang isa ring namumuno sa iglesya at nakasaksi sa mga paghihirap ni Cristo, at makakabahagi rin sa kaluwalhatian niya sa kanyang pagdating. 2 Alagaan ninyong mabuti ang mga mananampalatayang[a] kasama ninyo. Katulad sila ng mga tupa at kayo ang mga tagapag-alaga nila. Dapat taos-puso ninyo silang pangalagaan, dahil ito ang nais ng Dios. Hindi dahil sa napipilitan lang kayo, o dahil sa may hinihintay kayong kapalit, kundi dahil sa nais talaga ninyong makatulong sa kanila. 3 Huwag kayong maghahari-harian sa mga mananampalatayang ipinagkatiwala sa inyo upang alagaan, kundi maging halimbawa kayo sa kanila. 4 At pagdating ni Cristo na siyang Pangulong Tagapag-alaga, tatanggap kayo ng gantimpalang napakaganda at hindi kukupas kailanman.
5 At kayo namang mga kabataan, magpasakop kayo sa matatanda. At kayong lahat na mga mananampalataya, magpakumbaba kayo at maglingkod sa isaʼt isa, dahil sinasabi sa Kasulatan, “Kinamumuhian ng Dios ang mga mapagmataas, ngunit kinakaawaan niya ang mga mapagpakumbaba.”[b] 6 Kaya magpasakop kayo sa kapangyarihan ng Dios, dahil darating ang araw na pararangalan niya kayo. 7 Ipagkatiwala nʼyo sa kanya ang lahat ng kabalisahan nʼyo, dahil nagmamalasakit siya sa inyo. 8 Humanda kayo at mag-ingat, dahil ang kaaway ninyong si Satanas ay umaali-aligid na parang leong umaatungal at naghahanap ng malalapa. 9 Patatagin ninyo ang inyong pananampalataya sa Dios at labanan ninyo si Satanas. Alalahanin ninyong hindi lang kayo ang naghihirap kundi pati ang mga kapatid nʼyo kay Cristo sa buong mundo. Nararanasan din nila ang mga paghihirap na ito. 10 Maikling panahon lang ang paghihirap ninyo. Pagkatapos nito, tutulungan kayo ng Dios para maging ganap ang buhay ninyo. At siya rin ang magpapatatag at magpapalakas sa inyo, dahil siya ang pinagmumulan ng lahat ng pagpapala. Pinili niya kayo upang makabahagi rin sa walang hanggang kaluwalhatian niya sa pamamagitan ng pakikipag-isa ninyo kay Cristo. 11 Purihin siya sa kapangyarihan niyang walang hanggan! Amen.

12 Isinulat ko sa inyo ang maikling sulat na ito sa tulong ni Silvanus. Kapatid natin siya kay Cristo at talagang mapagkakatiwalaan. Napalakas ko sana ang inyong loob sa pamamagitan ng sulat na ito at napatunayan ko ang kabutihan sa atin ng Dios. Manatili kayo sa kabutihan niya.
