33 Laban gick då in i Jakobs tält, och sedan in i Leas tält och de båda slavinnornas tält, men han fann inget. När han hade kommit ut ur Leas tält gick han in i Rakels tält. 34 Men Rakel hade tagit husgudarna och lagt dem i kamelsadeln och satt sig på dem. Laban sökte igenom hela tältet utan att finna dem. 35 Hon sade till sin far: ”Bli inte arg på mig, herre, för att jag inte kan resa mig för dig. Jag har det som kvinnor brukar ha.”[a] Så sökte han efter husgudarna men kunde inte finna dem.

33 So Laban went into Jacob’s tent and into Leah’s tent and the tent of the two maids, but he did not find them. Then he went from Leah’s tent into Rachel’s tent.
34 Now Rachel had taken the images (gods) and put them in the camel’s saddle and sat on them. Laban searched and felt through all the tent, but did not find them.
35 And [Rachel] said to her father, Do not be displeased, my lord, that I cannot rise up before you, for the period of women is upon me and I am unwell. And he searched, but did not find the gods.

33 So Laban went into Jacob’s tent and into Leah’s tent(A) and into the tent of the two female servants,(B) but he found nothing.(C) After he came out of Leah’s tent, he entered Rachel’s tent. 34 Now Rachel had taken the household gods(D) and put them inside her camel’s saddle(E) and was sitting on them. Laban searched(F) through everything in the tent but found nothing.
35 Rachel said to her father, “Don’t be angry, my lord, that I cannot stand up in your presence;(G) I’m having my period.(H)” So he searched but could not find the household gods.(I)

33 So Laban entered Jacob’s tent, and Leah’s tent, and the tent of the two female servants, but he did not find the idols.[a] Then he left Leah’s tent and entered Rachel’s.[b] 34 (Now Rachel had taken the idols and put them inside her camel’s saddle[c] and sat on them.)[d] Laban searched the whole tent, but did not find them.[e] 35 Rachel[f] said to her father, “Don’t be angry,[g] my lord. I cannot stand up[h] in your presence because I am having my period.”[i] So he searched thoroughly,[j] but did not find the idols.
