Zweite Reise nach Ägypten
43 Die Hungersnot in Kanaan wurde immer drückender. 2 Bald war das Getreide aufgebraucht, das sie aus Ägypten mitgebracht hatten. »Geht wieder nach Ägypten und kauft etwas!«, bat Jakob seine Söhne. 3-5 Juda erwiderte: »Der Mann hat uns ausdrücklich gesagt: ›Lasst euch nicht mehr hier blicken, außer ihr bringt euren Bruder mit!‹ Wir können also nur gehen und Getreide kaufen, wenn du Benjamin mit uns kommen lässt! Sonst hat unsere Reise keinen Sinn.« 6 »Warum habt ihr dem Mann überhaupt erzählt, dass ihr noch einen Bruder habt? Musstet ihr mir das antun?«, fragte Jakob. 7 »Der Mann hat sich genau nach unserer Familie erkundigt«, entgegneten sie. »Er wollte wissen, ob unser Vater noch lebt und ob wir noch einen Bruder haben. Konnten wir denn ahnen, dass er sagen würde: ›Bringt euren Bruder mit‹?« 8 Juda schlug vor: »Vertrau mir den Jungen an! Dann können wir losziehen, und keiner von uns muss verhungern. 9 Ich übernehme für ihn die volle Verantwortung. Wenn ich ihn dir nicht gesund zurückbringe, will ich mein Leben lang die Schuld dafür tragen! 10 Wir könnten schon zweimal wieder hier sein, wenn wir nicht so lange gezögert hätten!«
11 Da gab Jakob nach: »Wenn es sein muss, dann nehmt Benjamin mit. Bringt dem Mann etwas von den besten Erzeugnissen unseres Landes: kostbare Harze[a], außerdem Honig, Pistazien und Mandeln. 12 Nehmt doppelt so viel Geld mit, wie ihr braucht, und gebt den Betrag zurück, der oben in euren Säcken lag. Vielleicht war es ja nur ein Versehen. 13 Macht euch mit Benjamin auf den Weg. 14 Ich bete zum allmächtigen Gott, dass der ägyptische Herrscher Mitleid mit euch hat und Simeon und Benjamin freigibt. Und wenn ich meine Kinder verliere, dann muss es wohl so sein!«
15 Die Brüder nahmen die Geschenke und den doppelten Geldbetrag und zogen mit Benjamin nach Ägypten. Dort meldeten sie sich bei Josef. 16 Als Josef sah, dass Benjamin dabei war, sagte er zu seinem Hausverwalter: »Diese Männer werden heute Mittag mit mir essen. Führe sie in meinen Palast, schlachte ein Tier und bereite ein gutes Essen vor!«
17 Als der Verwalter die Brüder aufforderte, ihm in Josefs Palast zu folgen, 18 erschraken sie. »Sicher werden wir dort hineingeführt, weil das Geld in unseren Säcken war!«, dachten sie. »Jetzt werden sie uns überwältigen, die Esel wegnehmen und uns zu Sklaven machen!«
19 Am Eingang zum Palast sagten sie zu dem Verwalter: 20 »Bitte, Herr, wir waren schon einmal hier, um Getreide zu kaufen. 21 Auf dem Rückweg übernachteten wir in einer Herberge. Als wir dort unsere Getreidesäcke öffneten, lag in jedem das Geld, mit dem wir bezahlt hatten. Jetzt haben wir es wieder mitgebracht, 22 zusammen mit neuem Geld, um noch einmal Getreide zu kaufen. Wir können wirklich nicht sagen, wer das Geld in unsere Säcke getan hat!«
23 »Macht euch keine Sorgen, es ist alles in Ordnung«, beruhigte sie der Hausverwalter. »Euer Gott muss es heimlich hineingelegt haben, denn ich habe euer Geld bekommen!«
Dann brachte er Simeon zu ihnen 24 und führte sie in den Palast. Dort gab er ihnen Wasser, damit sie sich die Füße waschen konnten, und fütterte ihre Esel. 25 Sie nutzten die Zeit, um ihre Geschenke für Josef zurechtzulegen; inzwischen hatten sie nämlich erfahren, dass sie mit ihm zu Mittag essen würden.
26 Als Josef eintrat, überreichten sie ihm die Geschenke und warfen sich vor ihm nieder. 27 Er erkundigte sich, wie es ihnen ging. »Was macht euer alter Vater, von dem ihr mir erzählt habt?«, fragte er. »Lebt er noch?« 28 »Ja, Herr«, antworteten sie, »und es geht ihm gut.« Dann warfen sie sich erneut vor ihm nieder.
29 Josef sah seinen Bruder Benjamin an, den Sohn seiner eigenen Mutter, und fragte: »Das ist also euer jüngster Bruder, von dem ihr mir erzählt habt? Gott segne dich!« 30 Der Anblick Benjamins bewegte ihn so sehr, dass ihm die Tränen kamen. Er lief hinaus und weinte in seinem Zimmer. 31 Dann wusch er sein Gesicht und ging wieder zurück. Mühsam beherrschte er sich und befahl seinen Dienern, das Essen aufzutragen.
32 Josef hatte einen eigenen Tisch, die Brüder aßen an einem anderen, und an einem dritten saßen die Ägypter, die mit dabei waren. Ihre Religion verbot es den Ägyptern nämlich, mit den Hebräern an einem Tisch zu essen, weil sie dadurch unrein würden. 33 Josefs Brüder saßen ihm gegenüber. Jeder hatte seinen Platz zugewiesen bekommen, und zwar genau nach der Reihenfolge ihres Alters. Sie blickten sich erstaunt an. 34 Als Zeichen der besonderen Ehre ließ Josef ihnen von den Gerichten auftragen, die auf seinem Tisch standen. Benjamin bekam einen sehr großen Anteil – fünfmal so viel wie seine Brüder! Dazu tranken sie Wein. Es war eine fröhliche Feier.

2 And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.
3 And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
4 If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:
5 But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
6 And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?
7 And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
8 And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.
9 I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
10 For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.
11 And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:
12 And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight:
13 Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:
14 And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
15 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.
16 And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.
17 And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.
18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
19 And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,
20 And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:
21 And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
22 And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.
23 And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.
24 And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
25 And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.
26 And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.
27 And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?
28 And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.
29 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.
30 And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
31 And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
32 And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
33 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.
34 And he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of their's. And they drank, and were merry with him.

43 Nạn đói vẫn còn tàn khốc. 2 Khi đã ăn hết lúa từ Ai-cập đem về, cha họ lại bảo: “Các con hãy trở xuống và mua một ít lương thực cho chúng ta.” 3 Nhưng Giu-đa thưa với cha: “Người ấy đã nghiêm cấm chúng con: ‘Nếu em các ngươi không đi theo các ngươi thì các ngươi sẽ chẳng bao giờ gặp mặt ta nữa.’ 4 Nếu cha cho em cùng đi với chúng con, chúng con sẽ xuống mua lương thực cho cha và gia đình. 5 Nhưng nếu cha không cho em đi thì chúng con sẽ không xuống đó đâu vì ông ấy đã bảo chúng con: ‘Nếu em các ngươi không xuống đây với các ngươi thì các ngươi sẽ không bao giờ thấy mặt ta nữa.’ ”
6 Y-sơ-ra-ên hỏi: “Tại sao các con khai còn một đứa em nữa để gây rắc rối cho cha?”
7 Họ đáp: “Ông ấy tra hỏi chúng con thật kỹ về chúng con và về gia đình ta: Cha các ngươi còn sống không? Các ngươi còn anh em nào nữa không? Chúng con chỉ trả lời câu hỏi của ông ấy. Chúng con đâu có biết ông ấy lại bảo: ‘Hãy đem em xuống đây.’ ”
8 Giu-đa thưa cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên cha mình: “Xin cha cho em đi với con thì chúng con sẽ ra đi tức khắc, hầu cho chúng ta tức là cha và con cái chúng con đều được sống và khỏi chết. 9 Chính con xin bảo đảm an toàn cho em; bản thân con xin chịu trách nhiệm về em trước mặt cha. Nếu con không đem em nó về cho cha và đặt nó tại đây trước mặt cha thì con xin hứng chịu sự quở trách của cha suốt đời. 10 Thật ra nếu chúng ta không lần lữa thì đã đi và về được hai chuyến rồi.”
11 Lúc ấy Y-sơ-ra-ên, cha họ mới bảo: “Nếu việc chẳng đừng được thì các con hãy làm điều này. Hãy mang theo trong bao các phẩm vật cho người ấy: một ít nhũ hương và mật ong, hương liệu và nhựa thơm, hạt dẻ và hạnh nhân. 12 Cũng hãy đem theo số bạc gấp đôi số lần trước vì các con phải trả lại bạc người ta để trong miệng bao của các con. Có lẽ đó là một sự lầm lẫn. 13 Hãy dẫn em các con theo và trở xuống gặp người ấy ngay. 14 Cầu xin Đức Chúa Trời toàn năng cho các con được ơn thương xót trước mặt người ấy để tha đứa con kia và cho Bên-gia-min về với các con. Còn phần cha, nếu phải mất đứa con thì đành chấp nhận vậy!”
Bên-gia-min Gặp Giô-sép
15 Vậy, các anh em đem theo tặng phẩm và số bạc gấp đôi cùng với Bên-gia-min lên đường xuống Ai-cập và yết kiến Giô-sép. 16 Vừa khi thấy Bên-gia-min xuống với anh em, Giô-sép bảo quản gia: “Hãy đưa những người này vào nhà ta, bắt một con vật làm thịt và dọn bữa ăn vì trưa nay họ sẽ ăn với ta.”
17 Quản gia làm theo mọi điều Giô-sép đã dặn và đưa các anh em vào nhà Giô-sép. 18 Thấy mình bị đưa vào nhà Giô-sép, các anh em hoảng sợ thầm nghĩ: “Chúng ta bị giải vào đây vì số bạc đã để lại trong bao chúng ta lần thứ nhất. Ông ấy muốn tấn công chúng ta, đàn áp chúng ta, bắt chúng ta làm nô lệ và cướp lừa của chúng ta.”
19 Vậy họ đến gần quản gia của Giô-sép và thưa với ông tại ngoài cửa: 20 “Thưa chúa, chúng tôi đã đến đây lần thứ nhất để mua lương thực. 21 Nhưng khi đến quán trọ, chúng tôi dỡ các bao ra thì đều thấy số bạc để nơi miệng bao mình cân nặng đúng y như cũ. Đây chúng tôi có mang theo số bạc đó. 22 Chúng tôi cũng mang thêm số bạc để mua lương thực nữa, không biết ai để bạc đó trong bao chúng tôi.”
23 Quản gia đáp: “Mọi việc đều tốt cả. Đừng sợ chi! Đức Chúa Trời của các anh và Đức Chúa Trời của thân phụ các anh đã để bảo vật trong bao các anh. Còn bạc các anh tôi đã nhận đủ.” Rồi quản gia đưa Si-mê-ôn đến cùng anh em.
24 Quản gia đưa các anh em vào nhà Giô-sép, đem nước cho họ rửa chân và đem cỏ cho lừa ăn. 25 Các anh em sắp xếp tặng phẩm, chờ đợi trưa Giô-sép về vì nghe rằng sẽ phải ăn trưa tại đây.
26 Khi Giô-sép về đến nhà, anh em dâng cho ông các tặng phẩm họ đã đem đến rồi sấp mình xuống đất trước mặt ông. 27 Giô-sép chào hỏi họ và tiếp: “Vị cha già các ngươi từng nói đến có mạnh giỏi không? Cụ còn sống không?”
28 Họ đáp: “Kẻ tôi tớ chúa là cha chúng tôi vẫn còn sống và mạnh khỏe.” Họ lại cúi đầu sấp mình xuống đất.
29 Ngước mắt nhìn, Giô-sép thấy Bên-gia-min em ruột mình, con của mẹ mình, liền hỏi: “Đó có phải là người em út mà các ngươi đã nói không?” Ông tiếp: “Con ơi, cầu xin Đức Chúa Trời ban ơn cho con!” 30 Khi thấy em mình, Giô-sép rất cảm động nên vội vã bước ra ngoài tìm chỗ để khóc. Ông vào phòng riêng để khóc.
31 Sau khi rửa mặt, Giô-sép bước ra tự chủ được và ra lệnh: “Dọn ăn đi.”
32 Người ta dọn cho Giô-sép ăn riêng, còn các anh em cũng ăn riêng và người Ai-cập thường ăn với Giô-sép cũng ăn riêng nữa, vì người Ai-cập ghê tởm người Do Thái nên không thể nào ăn chung được. 33 Các anh em được xếp ngồi trước mặt Giô-sép theo thứ tự tuổi tác từ anh cả đến em út. Họ ngạc nhiên nhìn nhau. 34 Khi dọn các món ăn cho các anh em trước mặt mình, Giô-sép cho Bên-gia-min nhiều gấp năm phần của các người khác. Vậy, họ ăn uống tiệc tùng vui vẻ với Giô-sép.

The Second Journey to Egypt
43 Now the famine was still severe in the land.(A) 2 So when they had eaten all the grain they had brought from Egypt,(B) their father said to them, “Go back and buy us a little more food.”(C)
3 But Judah(D) said to him, “The man warned us solemnly, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’(E) 4 If you will send our brother along with us, we will go down and buy food for you.(F) 5 But if you will not send him, we will not go down, because the man said to us, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.(G)’”
6 Israel(H) asked, “Why did you bring this trouble(I) on me by telling the man you had another brother?”
7 They replied, “The man questioned us closely about ourselves and our family. ‘Is your father still living?’(J) he asked us. ‘Do you have another brother?’(K) We simply answered his questions. How were we to know he would say, ‘Bring your brother down here’?”(L)
8 Then Judah(M) said to Israel(N) his father, “Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.(O) 9 I myself will guarantee his safety; you can hold me personally responsible for him.(P) If I do not bring him back to you and set him here before you, I will bear the blame(Q) before you all my life.(R) 10 As it is, if we had not delayed,(S) we could have gone and returned twice.”
11 Then their father Israel(T) said to them, “If it must be, then do this: Put some of the best products(U) of the land in your bags and take them down to the man as a gift(V)—a little balm(W) and a little honey, some spices(X) and myrrh,(Y) some pistachio nuts and almonds. 12 Take double the amount(Z) of silver with you, for you must return the silver that was put back into the mouths of your sacks.(AA) Perhaps it was a mistake. 13 Take your brother also and go back to the man at once.(AB) 14 And may God Almighty[a](AC) grant you mercy(AD) before the man so that he will let your other brother and Benjamin come back with you.(AE) As for me, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved.”(AF)
15 So the men took the gifts and double the amount of silver,(AG) and Benjamin also. They hurried(AH) down to Egypt and presented themselves(AI) to Joseph. 16 When Joseph saw Benjamin(AJ) with them, he said to the steward of his house,(AK) “Take these men to my house, slaughter an animal and prepare a meal;(AL) they are to eat with me at noon.”
17 The man did as Joseph told him and took the men to Joseph’s house.(AM) 18 Now the men were frightened(AN) when they were taken to his house.(AO) They thought, “We were brought here because of the silver that was put back into our sacks(AP) the first time. He wants to attack us(AQ) and overpower us and seize us as slaves(AR) and take our donkeys.(AS)”
19 So they went up to Joseph’s steward(AT) and spoke to him at the entrance to the house. 20 “We beg your pardon, our lord,” they said, “we came down here the first time to buy food.(AU) 21 But at the place where we stopped for the night we opened our sacks and each of us found his silver—the exact weight—in the mouth of his sack. So we have brought it back with us.(AV) 22 We have also brought additional silver with us to buy food. We don’t know who put our silver in our sacks.”
23 “It’s all right,” he said. “Don’t be afraid. Your God, the God of your father,(AW) has given you treasure in your sacks;(AX) I received your silver.” Then he brought Simeon out to them.(AY)
24 The steward took the men into Joseph’s house,(AZ) gave them water to wash their feet(BA) and provided fodder for their donkeys. 25 They prepared their gifts(BB) for Joseph’s arrival at noon,(BC) because they had heard that they were to eat there.
26 When Joseph came home,(BD) they presented to him the gifts(BE) they had brought into the house, and they bowed down before him to the ground.(BF) 27 He asked them how they were, and then he said, “How is your aged father(BG) you told me about? Is he still living?”(BH)
28 They replied, “Your servant our father(BI) is still alive and well.” And they bowed down,(BJ) prostrating themselves before him.(BK)
29 As he looked about and saw his brother Benjamin, his own mother’s son,(BL) he asked, “Is this your youngest brother, the one you told me about?”(BM) And he said, “God be gracious to you,(BN) my son.” 30 Deeply moved(BO) at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep. He went into his private room and wept(BP) there.
31 After he had washed his face, he came out and, controlling himself,(BQ) said, “Serve the food.”(BR)
32 They served him by himself, the brothers by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves, because Egyptians could not eat with Hebrews,(BS) for that is detestable to Egyptians.(BT) 33 The men had been seated before him in the order of their ages, from the firstborn(BU) to the youngest;(BV) and they looked at each other in astonishment. 34 When portions were served to them from Joseph’s table, Benjamin’s portion was five times as much as anyone else’s.(BW) So they feasted(BX) and drank freely with him.
