De nakomelingen van David

Koning Davids oudste zoon was Amnon, die in Hebron ter wereld werd gebracht door zijn vrouw Ahinoam uit Jizreël. De tweede was Daniël, wiens moeder Abigaïl uit Karmel was. De derde was Absalom, de zoon van zijn vrouw Maächa, die een dochter was van koning Talmai van Gesur. De vierde was Adonia, de zoon van zijn vrouw Haggith. De vijfde was Sefatja, de zoon van zijn vrouw Abital. De zesde was Jithream, de zoon van zijn vrouw Egla. Deze zes werden geboren in Hebron, waar koning David zevenenhalf jaar regeerde. Daarna verhuisde hij naar zijn hoofdstad Jeruzalem, waar hij nog eens drieëndertig jaar regeerde. Tijdens zijn verblijf in Jeruzalem bracht zijn vrouw Bathséba, de dochter van Ammiël, haar zonen Simea, Sobab, Nathan en Salomo ter wereld.

6-8 David had bovendien nog negen andere zonen. Dat waren achtereenvolgens: Jibhar, Elisama, Elifelet, Nogah, Nefeg, Jafia, Elisama, Eljada en Elifelet. In deze lijst zijn de zonen van zijn bijvrouwen niet opgenomen. David had ook nog een dochter, Tamar.

10-14 Dit zijn de nakomelingen van koning Salomo: Rehabeam, Abia, Asa, Josafat, Joram, Ahazia, Joas, Amazia, Azaria, Jotham, Achaz, Hizkia, Manasse, Amon en Josia. 15 De zonen van Josia waren: Johanan, de oudste, Jojakim, Zedekia en Sallum. 16 De zonen van Jojakim waren Jechonja en Zedekia.

17,18 Dit zijn de zonen die koning Jechonja kreeg: Assir en zijn zoon Sealthiël, Malchiram, Pedaja, Senassar, Jekamja, Hosama en Nedabja. 19,20 Pedaja was de vader van Zerubbabel en Simi. De kinderen van Zerubbabel waren Mesullam, Hananja, Hasuba, Ohel, Berechja, Hasadja, Jusab-Hesed en een dochter, die Selomit heette. 21 Hananjaʼs zoon was Pelatja, Pelatjaʼs zoon was Jesaja, 22 Jesajaʼs zoon was Refaja, Refajaʼs zoon was Arnan, Arnans zoon was Obadja, Obadjaʼs zoon was Sechanja, Sechanjaʼs zoon was Semaja. Semaja had zes zonen, onder wie Hattus, Jigal, Bariah, Nearja en Safat. 23 Nearja had drie zonen: Eljoënai, Hizkia en Azrikam. 24 Eljoënaiʼs zeven zonen waren Hodajeva, Eljasib, Pelaja, Akkub, Johanan, Delaja en Anani.

Family of David

These were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn was Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; second, Daniel (Chileab), by Abigail the Carmelitess; third, Absalom the son of Maacah, daughter of Talmai king of Geshur; fourth, Adonijah, the son of Haggith; fifth, Shephatiah, by Abital; sixth, Ithream, by his wife Eglah. These six were born to David in Hebron; he reigned there seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years. These were born to David in Jerusalem: [a]Shimea (Shammua), Shobab, Nathan, Solomon—four by Bath-shua (Bathsheba) daughter of Ammiel (Eliam); then Ibhar, Elishama (Elishua), Eliphelet (Elpelet), Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Eliada (Beeliada), and Eliphelet—nine in all. All these were the sons of David, besides the sons of the [b]concubines; and Tamar was their sister.

10 Solomon’s son was Rehoboam. Abijah was his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son, 11 [c]Joram (Jehoram) his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son, 12 Amaziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son, 13 Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son, 14 Amon his son, Josiah his son. 15 The sons of Josiah: firstborn, Johanan; second, Jehoiakim (Eliakim); third, Zedekiah; fourth, Shallum (Jehoahaz). 16 The sons (descendants) of Jehoiakim: Jehoiachin (Jeconiah) his son, Zedekiah his son. 17 The sons (descendants) of Jehoiachin (Jeconiah) the prisoner: Shealtiel his son, 18 Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama and Nedabiah. 19 The sons of Pedaiah: Zerubbabel and Shimei. The sons of Zerubbabel: Meshullam and Hananiah, and Shelomith was their sister; 20 and Hashubah, Ohel, Berechiah, Hasadiah, and Jushab-hesed—five in all. 21 The sons of Hananiah: Pelatiah and Jeshaiah, the sons of Rephaiah, the sons of Arnan, the sons of Obadiah, the sons of Shecaniah. 22 The sons (descendants) of Shecaniah: Shemaiah. The sons of Shemaiah: Hattush, Igal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat—six in all. 23 The sons of Neariah: Elioenai, Hizkiah, and Azrikam—three in all. 24 The sons of Elioenai: Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani—seven in all.

The Sons of David(A)(B)

These were the sons of David(C) born to him in Hebron:

The firstborn was Amnon the son of Ahinoam(D) of Jezreel;(E)

the second, Daniel the son of Abigail(F) of Carmel;

the third, Absalom the son of Maakah daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

the fourth, Adonijah(G) the son of Haggith;

the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

and the sixth, Ithream, by his wife Eglah.

These six were born to David in Hebron,(H) where he reigned seven years and six months.(I)

David reigned in Jerusalem thirty-three years, and these were the children born to him there:

Shammua,[a] Shobab, Nathan and Solomon. These four were by Bathsheba[b](J) daughter of Ammiel. There were also Ibhar, Elishua,[c] Eliphelet, Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Eliada and Eliphelet—nine in all. All these were the sons of David, besides his sons by his concubines. And Tamar(K) was their sister.(L)

17 The descendants of Jehoiachin the captive:

Shealtiel(AG) his son, 18 Malkiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar,(AH) Jekamiah, Hoshama and Nedabiah.(AI)

19 The sons of Pedaiah:

Zerubbabel(AJ) and Shimei.

The sons of Zerubbabel:

Meshullam and Hananiah.

Shelomith was their sister.

20 There were also five others:

Hashubah, Ohel, Berekiah, Hasadiah and Jushab-Hesed.

21 The descendants of Hananiah:

Pelatiah and Jeshaiah, and the sons of Rephaiah, of Arnan, of Obadiah and of Shekaniah.

22 The descendants of Shekaniah:

Shemaiah and his sons:

Hattush,(AK) Igal, Bariah, Neariah and Shaphat—six in all.

23 The sons of Neariah:

Elioenai, Hizkiah and Azrikam—three in all.

24 The sons of Elioenai:

Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah and Anani—seven in all.
